I cannot understand how a company would produce a beautiful, modern, acrylic, raised cat feeder, and then skimp on the quality of bowls that come with it. The acrylic design is impeccable. A feast for those who love minimalism. So what is the problem? The stainless steel. Stainless steel may scratch but those scratches are superficial and only affect its surface. Stainless steel is not a topical coating that degrades and reveals an unknown substance below that. If it does, that is not stainless steel. That is the beauty of stainless steel. It never degrades and endures indefinitely. Stainless steel is always stainless steel. When I removed the unit from the box, the weight met expectations of what you would imagine was appropriate for this item. I also expected the same would be true for the bowls. But that was not the case. When I had almost completely unwrapped the plastic packaging the bowl was so light it literally flew. The material was thin. A stainless steel bowl of that size would never do that. Later, under better lighting, I noticed the discoloration. At first, I thought it was dirt, so I washed them, but the discoloration around the rim was still there. A little red flag rose, but I put that aside temporarily, and decided to use the bowls. Once. My primary concern became I could not be sure what my cat was actually ingesting when eating or drinking from those bowls. So I washed the bowls again and set the unit aside. But what followed truly startled me. Buster was as intrigued as I was by the design. He liked it. The height appeared to be ideal. He sniffed the freshly washed bowls a few times then lost interest until he decided to approach again when he stopped dead in his tracks and turned away and never approached again. Witnessing an instinctual response was startling. And matched my initial instinctual reaction. This was a fence he would not cross. Neither would I. It is boggling how a manufacturing blunder like this could go unnoticed or authorized. To maintain consumer confidence a manufacturer must always ensure products are safe and meet or exceed acceptable standards. It is that simple. Or should be.
OMG I finally found a gorgeous acrylic feeder at a reasonable price, and on Chewy!!! We recently renovated our kitchen and really like clean, sleek and minimalist decor. Acrylic goes with everything so that is what I hoped to find, but everywhere I looked the nice ones were like $200-300 :(. This GF Pet one is perfect and so reasonable!! The quality is great, it looks amazing in my kitchen and I love the paw logo in the bowls too. My Pearl and I are thrilled!
