I ordered a Large size for my Aussie Terrier mix based on his 20" chest size. Another Gooby sweater-type coat fit fine, but this one was a bit snug. Chewy was really great to work with in sending a replacement (XL) a size larger. When we come back from the dog park, the inside of the coat feels warm, so I know it's doing its job. :-D I chose this coat for several reasons. First, the rings on the back to attach a leash, meaning it could substitute for a harness. Second, the zipper on the back made it simple to put on him. There's a snap at the neck that helps in putting it on -- I only have two hands to hold it in place! It would be better yet if the zipper started at the neck and zipped backward, but it works. You can see in the photo that it bunches up a bit on the back when he puts his head up, but more often his head is down to run or sniff out whatever terriers are inclined to root out, and it fits fine. It's lightweight so it doesn't slow him down when he's running with the big dogs.

Perfect fit

The size chart for this sweater is accurate and so I ordered a size larger (XL) than Mikey normally fits. That was a good idea as the fit is snug (as it should be?)

The size chart for this sweater is accurate and so I ordered a size larger (XL) than Mikey normally fits. That was a good idea as the fit is snug (as it should be?) but looks good. Only downside is the leash attachment loops could be better with some reinforcement. A good tug on the leash might rip the loops from the garment.

easy on/off, beware hard plastic tabs inside

My dog is losing his hair because of Cushings, so this vest did not work for him because of the hard tabs (approx 1"x1") inside the vest, which are function--that's what keeps the little D-Rings from ripping away from the vest. It would be fine for anyone whose dog isn't sleeping in this vest, and also fine for a dog with sufficient hair/fat to cushion behind their shoulder blades. But not good for those who need to keep their dogs with thinning hair, warm. I found other fleeces and sweaters on Chewy that worked well, I think the trick is to avoid anything with external D-rings.

Penny is wearing it when the temperature dips into the 30's . . . but I wish it wasn't quite so tight fitting. She's only a 13lb Chihuahua mix and the next size up (Lg) is way too big.

My Charlie is a chi weighing in at 4.25. His length is 9.05 his chest is just over 11.As those of you with tiny kids know it’s hard getting clothes to fit these little ones.Charlie hates being cold so lots of tops and light sweaters.I have been getting this brand as Gooby clothes have a little give where they are easy to get on these wigglers and their arms stay in the outfit..Very well made and last a long time.The weight of this one is a medium weight.I have some that are heavier for traveling to vet etc.I was this type in a laundry bag on cold and hang dry.You can air fluff for a minute if you want to use a fragment free softener sheet.Charlie wears an xsmall to a small depending on the garment material.In chilly weather I put on a cotton undergarment so Charlie has his entire chest covered as the vest is standard no sleeves same as a human vest this way he can go out and do his business and be warm.One major thing I like is the cut is comfortable where he is not peeing on it.My boy pees doing a handstand so naturally the pee goes upward lol funniest thing I ever seen.So on this one a small is perfect with his measurements.Hope this is some help especially in the sizing.will do pics and add later on.

My pup hates things that go on over her head so I thought this would be perfect. And it is once it’s on, but I need 4 hands to put it on her. She has long fur and the zipper guard can’t do it, so I have to tuck fur in and then try to zip! I need help every time! So this would be great for a short haired dog but if you have a long haired baby I’d say try a different type.

The manufacturer messed up the order....twice!

I ordered this sweatshirt in a size Large. It shipped directly from the manufacture and it took a week and a half to arrive. When I received it, it was a size Small

I ordered this sweatshirt in a size Large. It shipped directly from the manufacture and it took a week and a half to arrive. When I received it, it was a size Small. Chewy customer service was very nice and said they would make a note to make sure they sent a Large next time. I just got it today....another Small!! I am getting a refund, and it's not Chewy's fault, but I can't contact the manufacturer directly. It's too bad. It looks like a really nice sweatshirt and I searched a long time to find exactly what I was looking for.
