How many cups of food does the 10 pound bag make? One reply says 184 and one says 92. I have a 92 pound Goldendoodle and he will eat around 2 1/2 - 3 cups a day.
Answer by ChewyJun 20, 2019
The 1 pound bag makes up to 5 pounds of fresh food (approximately 20 cups), the 3 pound bag makes 14 pounds of fresh food (approximately 56 cups), and the 10 pound bag makes 46 pounds of fresh food (approximately 184 cups).

How long does this bag of food last unopened, if stored in a cool, dark place?
Answer by ChewyMar 31, 2022
All types of food have a shelf-life of 18 months and the treats have a shelf-life of 14 months. The best by date will be listed on the back of the bag.

Can this be pre-mixed, then kept frozen until ready to use?
Answer by ChewyFeb 09, 2021
It is recommended to prepare fresh. After rehydrating the food, it should consumed within 4 hours.

Hypnos food

I put my dog Hypnos on a freeze dried diet approximately 2 months ago. He really liked the fish flavor.

Perfect for allergies

My senior pit mix has had pretty bad allergies and yeast problems over the last 2 years. This food has helped alleviate his symptoms and scratch/lick less. Great price point too compared to other brands

Dogs love it, I love it

Dogs love it, I love it. Keeping healthy weight and giving them a life full of spunk. No more allergies, all going strong on 16 years, it must be doing something good.

Loose smelly stools

My two boys eat this food and seem to enjoy it, but even after trying different proteins and fully transitioning to this food, their stools are never firm. The consistency of the prepared food is weird, sort of gummy. I wanted to like this food but since my yard isn’t fenced, the boys use potty pads at night. They are both under 25lbs and since transitioning to this food their stools became extremely foul smelling. Wake you up in the middle of the night from the other end of the house, bad. We are transitioning to a new food now, and as I decrease the grandma Lucy’s, the smell is finally going away.

Loves all food but not this one

My doggie is an aggressive eater and won’t turn his nose up to much, but he does not like this food at all.

My pescatarian canine scarfed this

She loved the taste and her notoriously sensitive stomach didn’t have a negative reaction. Her farts are pungent but I think it’s likely due to the change in diet and quality.

Great nutrition!

After a cancer surgery for our beagle, my veterinarian asked me to closely review her diet. She asked if I could cook all her meals. A busy Mom with many companion animals, I looked for dehydrated meals. I found this one and my dogs love it. It is easy to fix and fits all the criteria of a home cooked meal.

Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am what’s known in the dog food nerd world as a “rotator”, I feed a wide variety of foods. I use Grandma Lucy‘s product such as this instead of canned dog food, mixing half-and-half with kibble

Great Food!

All 3 of my dogs LOVED this food! Way better and healthier than most kibbles out there. There’s even some fish chunks in there, it’s crazy! We used it in our camping trip and used a little on some hiking trips! 10/10 would recommend

SO Much better than canned!

I have an extremely picky standard poodle. Getting him to eat on schedule is very important because he is a Service Dog, trained to perform life saving medical alerts and responses, as well as provide mobility assistance to allow me more freedom, independence and dignity by not having to rely on another adult to help me into or out of a seated position or keep me from losing my balance while simply walking from one room to another. He is my fluffy hero, BUT, if he misses a meal, he can experience hunger nausea, causing him to vomit bile - understandable, but unwelcome in public spaces, especially grocery store or Doctor's offices! We have used several grandma Lucy's products for years now to make "gravy" for his high quality kibble to entice him to eat. Just 1/4 cup mixed with 1/2 cup water provides the perfect amount and consistency of fresh "gravy" for a 1.5 cup serving of kibble, so a 3lb bag lasts us several months! He is a particular fan of fish (he LOVED Grandma Lucy's fish Valor formula which is sadly no longer available in 3lb bags (only 10lb) so we decided to try this Grandma Lucy's formula for the first time and it was a gold medal winner! We dislike using canned foods because they are highly processed, greatly reducing their nutritional value and pathogen, foreign object, vitamin overdose and other recalls on even the best brands are becoming far too common. With minimally processed, freeze dried whole foods, we know he is getting the safest, highest quality nutrition available and it solves the problem of him not wanting to eat his breakfast on a day when I know we'll be out for quite a while - too long for him to have an empty stomach! It also prevents us from waking up in the wee hours to a 65 lb, heaving poodle on our bed because he wouldn't eat his dinner! We do rotate foods (both dry kibbles ad freeze dried) to limit the possibility of developing food allergies and to prevent food boredom. This will definitely be a permanent addition to our rotation! We plan to try the rabbit formula next.
