... because our cats LOVE to pee on litter mats regardless of the material. I have no idea why but many a litter mat has met a quick end in our house and that's smelly and expensive!! Maybe it's because the amount of litter that gets stuck in them attracts them, maybe they like the various materials, no idea - but it's gross. So now I have a bunch of these so there's the ability to swap clean ones out with ones that need a wash and there's never an uncovered spot on the floor (just in case). Litter mats obviously have a use and we do have a couple diggers who try to burrow all the way to China in the boxes, so completely foregoing them is not an option and having just disposable pee pads at all times is...not aesthetic. This isn't perfect for that either, I'd love if they had solid colors so they looked more like rugs. But, they wash really well (I use some liquid enzyme cleaner, detergent, and white vinegar) and the cats *aren't* purposely peeing on them, though it happens on occasion if a bunch of litter gets tossed all over them, so that's great!! They're also easier to shake off than actual litter mats (before washing).

Chula won't use them. She is 14 yrs old and pee's everywhere, except on the pee pads. I have had them down everywhere everywhere since I received them. Maybe her nose doesn't work right. She also poops everywhere while she is walking. Luckily that isn't too hard to pick up.
