Our dog was a nightmare to walk...she is very inquisitive and wants to check everything around her out. She would zig-zag, jerk and pull, wanted to run wide open and this was hard on my husband when he walked her. We really hesitated getting this type of training collar because we were afraid it might scare or intimidate our dog to the point of where she wouldn't want to walk at all. The first couple of times we used it, she ran into the woods out of sight. My husband hit the sound button and after a few seconds she came right back...it was something unfamiliar to her, so she came back to her security spot with my husband. One other time, she ran off again and my husband hit the vibrate button, which she hadn't experienced either so she came back to him. The 3rd time she ran off, out of sight, but still in range of the remote, he hit the shock button once and she came running back and sat down in front of my husband. Each time she ran off, he told her she had been bad and she understood that, but she also seemed to remember what each of the three signals meant. Since those 3 occasions, let's call it her learning curve, she has been a completely different dog on her daily walks!! We have 100 acres with all kinds of wildlife and any one of them can distract her when she's walking, but it's rare now that my husband even has to use the sound feature, even when a deer or turkey happens to stroll by. This is an amazing product and it solved our dilemma of walking the dog!! It even has a mini night light built in...cool feature!
