About Halo Holistic

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that’s made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It’s exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutr

Responsibly Sourced Proteins

Halo Holistic recipes are responsibly sourced, so you can feel good about what you’re feeding your pet. The poultry in their meat-based recipes is sourced with a focus on animal welfare, and the fish they use is either sustainable or wild-caught.

Complete Digestive Health

Immunity starts with a healthy gut. That’s why Halo Holistic is made with prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics for complete digestive health. Prebiotics help nourish good gut bacteria, while probiotics help digest food. Postbiotic compounds help support immune health and overall well-being.

What’s in Your Cat’s Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a “meat meal” hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

High-Quality & Responsibly Sourced

Every Halo Holistic recipe is responsibly sourced and independently certified. Why? Because certification is the best way to ensure that meat is raised in an ethical manner. These independent organizations ensure that ingredients are sourced in an ethical, sustainable and socially conscious way. The result is higher quality ingredients that contain more nutrients — and higher quality food for your pet.

Prebiotics, Probiotics & Postbiotics

Halo gives you more than just probiotics to help support digestive health. While probiotics are important, helping to digest food, absorb nutrients and maintain gut health, they work even better when paired with prebiotics and postbiotics. Prebiotics feed and nourish good gut bacteria, creating the ideal environment for digestion. Postbiotics help support immune health and overall good health. Together, these three are a digestive health powerhouse!

New formula is horrible!

I have fed this food to my cat for years and he has always loved it, especially when I opened up a new bag. When I poured some of this new bag into his bowl, he initially started to eat, but only ate a small amount and has refused to eat anymore...and he is not a picky cat. When I bought the new bag, I assumed they had only changed the look of the packaging, not the ingredients. Unfortunately, they have completely changed the formula. There was never any pork in the original formula and now it's the 4th ingredient on the list (also, pork fat is #8). There are other things that have been added/taken away, but I think the pork is the biggest thing. I have always loved Halo and how great it has been for my cat, but with this new formula, I'm sadly going to need to find a different food.

Something’s Changed

My cat has loved this food for 5+ years. As others have mentioned the formula, color, smell, etc. has changed for the worse and my cat will barely eat this food and when she does it makes her sick. Now I must find a different brand. What a shame!!!

Noticeable difference

A couple of months ago, I had gotten a bag of Halo salmon & whitefish for kittens since it was on sale and my cats seemed to like it. My cats aren't kittens though, so I didn't want to give them too much and just tried it out to test if they like this brand. Since they seemed to eat it pretty well, I got this bag thinking it would be the same thing but more suitable for adults. However, they barely touch it and only eat it mixed with other dry food, but it's still left last. Maybe they don't like it because they just think they are young kittens at heart? haha. Anyway, for real though, it does seem that the kibble is darker than the previous bag and has more crumbs on the pieces, so either the formula changed with the new bag look or the adult one is just like that. Either way, my 5 cats aren't fans, sadly.

over cooked cat food

Again I received a bag of halo food that was over cooked and dark brown. My cats do not like over cooked food. If this keeps up I will be looking for another brand. I will be writing to halo also. It is their fault not yours.

NO said the cats

My 3 cats have eaten Halo kibble 'Fish Medley' for years and love it. This product has similar ingredients so I thought it might be another option for them. They wholeheartedly rejected it. Nope, nope, nope. Now I see that they have changed the formula for their "fish medley." I hope they don't reject that!

Healthy but formula has changed

We have served our cats the Salmon/Whitefish formula for about 5 years. They loved it until recently. Around November 2022, something changed in the kibble. It was always a big deal when I opened a new bag of kibble. The cats could not wait to have a nibble. I opened a new bag; expiry was fine, and both cats turned their nose up. They will no longer eat this kibble. Sadly, we typically auto-order 4 bags of 6lb at a time; we also purchase canned Halo same formula. I am back to looking for a new food source. 3 stars because it seems to have quality ingredients.

Halo dry cat and dog food

Ingredients have changed for the worst. Pork, pork fat other fillers not a healthy holistic food any longer. Halo has lost a long time customer.

Universal dislike

All 5 cats I take care of were universal in their dislike of this food, smelled and walked away. A couple of them are strays and generally eat anything but nobody cared for it. I noticed filler in the pieces which might be why. Used to have good luck with Halo food not this one.

Terrible! They changed the formula...

My cat has been on this dry food for six years, and with the last delivery I noticed that they had changed the shape of the food and jacked up the price. However, this is nothing compared to the diarrhea my cat has had since he started eating this " improved" version. A week later we changed his dry food and he is back to his normal happy self. Will not buy again.

Not the same food as it used to be

The company has done something with the formula, because all three of my cats used to eat this, now none will eat it. I called Halo and they said they are doing something different with the chicken fat. The shape and texture of the kibble is also different. Very disappointed, as they used to love this. Will not buy it again.
