Dental care for my dogs is one of those things that I’ve always found to be a struggle, so I love that these treats are so easy to use and not big and bulky like a dental bone. My dog was hesitant at first, but after trying the first one, she’s a fan! 4 stars (4.5 would be more accurate) only because my dog liked these so much that she started swallowing them whole, and it’s unclear whether they are fully effective if taken that way. I solved the problem by squishing or crumbling them to make sure they spend at least a few extra seconds in her mouth. Overall, I liked these chews for their healthy ingredients and easy way to support my dog’s dental health on a holistic level.

Admittedly, my dog is not a picky eater but he seemed to get extra excited about these Happy Paws dental treats. He kind of went crazy for them. The chews were small, pungent, and semi-soft (I stored them in the fridge) so I could see why they would be appealing to a dog. Since my dog is 100lbs, he needed a dose of 5 chews per day which meant that the tin lasted only 20 days. Perhaps 20 days was not long enough for any noticeable effects because I did not see any positive or negative change in his breath or teeth. He’s never really had a bad breath issue aside from occasional temporary bouts and his teeth are in very good shape. To see results, this product might be best used on a dog that actually has dental and GI issues. The product seemed to be of good quality overall and did not cause my dog any stomach issues. I liked that the ingredient list did not have a bunch of unnecessary things in it. I think this product is best for a dog who is having oral/dental/GI issues and is 60lbs or less, which allows a full 30+ days for it to take effect. My dog was just happy because they were just extra treats to him!

The Happy Paws dental chews are great. They’re small brown heart shaped chews with no unpleasant dog food smell. Her teeth look good and her breath has improved greatly since giving these. I like that the container doesn’t look tacky sitting on the counter. However the container could use some improvement. The treats became soft and some crumbled after a few weeks. Still edible, just messy.

My picky dog at first rejected, then went for it when her buddy did. It's a good size, smells good and has a soft texture which my dog appreciates (her buddy would eat marble and chew it so can't judge by her!). No digestive issues with either dog (I'd tried a similar powder-based product years ago and my dog had an allergic reaction) so this is a win! It will take a lot of long-term use to see if there is long-term benefit here but I'm game to try alongside dental chews.
