Wish the reservoir wasn't plastic and functioned without cable

Got this because it said wireless, and it can be, but then the fountain only works for a few seconds at a time when the sensor is triggered. So for anyone who knows

Got this because it said wireless, and it can be, but then the fountain only works for a few seconds at a time when the sensor is triggered. So for anyone who knows what cats are like--this was very confusing and bewildering to my little kittens I got it for since they chew wires. They kept setting off the sensor and just watching the water and trying to figure out what the magic was. They also exhibit more weird behaviors/funny drinking antics than they did with a regular bowl like dancing around it, slapping the water and drinking off the paw, etc. so I'm not sure if the height is just not satisfactory for them? They drink out of my other petlibro fountain with no issue but it's in the main part of the house which they only go into with supervision for now while they're acclimating to my other cats. My older cats also don't like this fountain and slap the water out and make a mess, which is annoying because I got a fountain specifically for that cat for that problem. Overall for the price I would've liked it better if the reservoir wasn't plastic and you had the option for it to run continuously without being plugged into the wall.
