Why are these so dried out?

I am very particular about what I feed my dog. These treats are so dried and so dang hard. I could use them as rocks. I left them down in the creek for the coyotes

Love the ingredients! No bad stuff at all! However, they are very hard and the duck is very brittle. I've used another product like this for years and hid a pill

Love the ingredients! No bad stuff at all! However, they are very hard and the duck is very brittle. I've used another product like this for years and hid a pill between the duck and sweet potato, but I absolutely cannot with these. My dog really has trouble chewing through them and he doesn't like them like the old ones.
