When transitioning to a new pet food, do so slowly over a period of about 7-10 days, mixing an increasing amount of new food with old food each day: Start with 75% old food mixed with 25% new food for approximately three days. Then mix 50% old with 50% new for approximately three days.

I have fed my dogs Healthy Dogma food mixes for MANY years. I’ve used the original, skin & coat and the mobility mixes. The latter is our current favorite. I primarily add natural ground beef and a bit of liver. My dogs have always had excellent bloodwork. They are currently 11 and 9 and play like puppies and go for 45 minute walks each night. In the past, I tried other mixes intermittently but quickly returned to this brand. There are many options to choose from and it is the easiest and most economical mix I’ve found. Dogs love it. I make 5 batches at once and freeze them in individual serving size containers. Also, I keep a 2 pound bag of the chicken mix on hand in case we are traveling. Easy to mix at meal time when we’re on the road with no need to refrigerate.

I have been making food for my dogs for about three years. I was always mildly concerned about balance. I was using all fresh ingredients but the ratios were tricky. Not to mention all the work buying chopping and cooking all the ingredients. I finally decided to go with a base mix combined with fresh meat. I tried a few before I found Healthy Dogma. I love it! It's got great ingredients, it's soooo easy to measure out and prepare and most importantly my dogs love it. I use this with some grass-fed beef, a squirt of salmon oil and a beef liver treat once a day, and i feel confident my dogs are getting a well-balanced diet. Best of all, it only takes about 5 minutes to make a batch!
