Imagine a life where your dog loves being groomed. When you pull out the brush or nail trimmers, your dog comes running—just as if you opened a new bag of treats. How would that make you feel?It is never too late to train your pet to love being brushed. With a little time and patience, you and your puppy, adult, or senior dog can look forward to sharing relaxing grooming time.Be sure of your strategy: ATTITUDE, TIME, REWARDAttitude - All grooming interactions should be positive experiences for both the groomer and the one being groomed. Any time you are thinking that training for a good grooming experience is a chore is not a good time to practice. Wait until you are in the right frame of mind so that the training time is positive for both you and your dog.Time - Short training sessions are always the most productive. If you notice your dog is reluctant to participate, then you are probably going faster than the dog would like. Slow down and use a higher-value treat or reward to make the time more comfortable for your dog. There is no rule that says you have to trim every toenail every session.Reward - Train (and practice) in small steps that emphasize fun and rewards. When you start to train a new behavior, use your dogs’ favorite treats. However, once your dog understands what you’re asking him to do; you can start to decrease the value of the treat.
You should trim your dog’s nails whenever they are long. If they keep getting snagged or “click” on the floor as your dog walks, you know it’s time to get the clippers. Long unkempt nails can become ingrown or cause serious infections. Clip the dewclaw nail just inside the leg as well.

Oh my! my one cat gets matted every spring.I’ve taken him to the vet to get them out the past 3 yrs cause I just didn’t have the right tool to get em out with. The last trip, they shaved the top to get the mats, but didn’t do the sides so I seen this and read the reviews and I ordered and so glad I did! This is the best dematting tool I have ever had. I got those mats off his sides with no trouble and he is one happy cat!
This comb is fantastic. I have an old cat friend that has lost interest in grooming and developed severe mats in her coat. I was trying to get them out with a regular comb, but it was very uncomfortable for her. I researched and discovered this comb and wish I had found it before I started trying to get her mats out of her fur. It is so much easier on her. It pulls just a little and then cuts through the mats. I absolutely recommend this comb to help critters get de-matted. It works very well.
This is good for getting at the undercoat + matted hair. Go slowly, so you're not tugging at the hair, and don't overwork an area. My cat looks like he dropped a few pounds--there was so, so much hair. But he seems much happier now.
This dematting comb is great for dogs with thick undercoats. Our pup's breed is notorious for thick undercoats, which are hard to comb out.
Of course you have to be gentle with this but it does a great job removing all the matted hair.
I studied the reviews on Chewy before getting the Dematting Comb for my cat. The reviews were right. That is the best comb ever. My cat had four places her fur on top of her back had matted together right down to her tail. When it came I set the comb on the floor and let her sniff it all over. I acted all excited like it was a treat and when she got on me I let her sniff it and then just barely went over the tops of the mats. I did that a few times during the day making sure not to get under it and get snagged. By the end of the second day all the mats were gone and the third day she would go to where I had it setting wanting to be combed. I can now use the side of the comb where the teeth are closer together. You will not be sorry if you buy this comb and do as I did.
This comb does not remove/cut through mats at all like advertised — instead it just tugs and rips the fur/mat out. It is extremely painful for the animal. I have a long-haired Maine Coon and she hates this contraption — as do I. Only used it once and it will be going into the trash. Unfortunately, I had to cut the packaging to open it, otherwise I would return it for a refund. A complete waste of money.
This is the best detangler and shedding blade I have used yet! It's comfortable to hold, has a good grip, helps cut out the big knots and also get rid of the undercoat. Thank you so much! Thank you so much!
I am very impressed with this dematter tool. My groomer was unavailable for 3 months and I knew if I couldn’t comb out the fur-matts, I’d be looking at shaved dogs in March. I bought this tool and gave it a try this evening… I was able to remove a lot of matts on my first try (4 dogs). I tried with and without detangler spray, no noticeable difference, except the spray annoyed the dogs …and made them smell better during the process (which I liked). I am admittedly a lazy owner when it comes to grooming (which is why I rely on a groomer). I’m grateful that I found this tool and that all the dogs tolerated the process. I wish I had known about this tool years ago. By the way... the dog pictured always knots up the hair on the top of her head and I don’t know how she does it… I’ve never caught her break-dancing head-spins… but I was able to get the terrible matts out within approximately 30 minutes.
I have two very long haired weegies. They shed like crazy. A friend recommended this brush and it is awesome. It has significantly reduced the amount of hair all over the floor and they don’t mind being brushed with it. I highly recommend it for long-haired cats.
