This product is all that it says it is and that is an alfalfa pellet that is very high in protein, and being such is also high in calcium. In working with a veterinarian very adept at helping exotic animals (chinchillas) I found that Alfalfa is not something you want to be feeding a chinchilla. Guinea pigs, and other small mammals it may be ok for, but not for Chinchillas. It can cause damage to their kidneys for one thing. This product should not be listed as ok for Chinchillas. New pet owners a lot of times buy food items by how they are advertised. And that's just what I did. I had to find out the hard way. My little guy developed soft mushy poops from this product, it was way too strong for his little digestive system. Thank the Lord, I stopped feeding it in plenty of time. I will be giving the product to someone who can use it.
