Dusty
This hay is very dusty and full of very stiff, yellow/brown pieces of hay. I’m throwing out more than my bunny is eating.

Maybe I got a bad box, but I don't feel safe letting my guinea pigs eat this batch of hay. I found (& tossed) several vines in the first handful of hay I pulled
Maybe I got a bad box, but I don't feel safe letting my guinea pigs eat this batch of hay. I found (& tossed) several vines in the first handful of hay I pulled out. The next time I got hay my eyes were drawn to several mysterious blobs that, on closer inspection, look similar to rotten tomatoes that dried on the vine & were still attached to the vine & leaves. I didn't look through all the hay, but another layer appeared to have feathers & some matted brown hay. I won’t risk feeding this to my girls.

I bought this High Desert Small Animal Feed Orchard Hay in December and give a little bit to my guinea pigs daily for variety (they like Timothy Hay, 2nd cutting primarily). The hay was packaged directly into a cardboard box (i.e., no plastic bag), but since it must have been stored at Chewy's warehouse, the box was within another cardboard box. That happened to work out for me because it had been drizzling the day the package arrived and I would've been concerned for the hay if it was just in the first cardboard box alone. The hay looked decent and smelled pretty good. There were some more brown/yellow strands of hay (more than I've seen with orchard hay from other brands I've tried), but overall, still pretty decent. I would recommend trying out this brand at least once to see if your guinea pigs enjoy it. I give the hay 3.5 stars. Though I don't know if I would buy orchard hay from this vendor again, I may try the timothy hay from this vendor.
