Will this work with just the driveway strip

The RX-10 Pet Collar allows you to control all of High Tech Pet Activated Wireless System Ultrasonic and Radio products, which includes all High Tech Pet's Underground Electronic Fences, all Power Pet Door models, Radio Mat, Yard Barrier and Sound Barrier.

Can the probes be removed if using this for opening dog door only?

The probes can be unscrewed from the unit as needed but please note that the probes are needed when re-charging the collar on the charger base.

Don’t waste your time

These heavy duty collars are supposedly indestructible per the company that makes them. My dog has been through two in the past couple of months. Just bought one
