I replaced my original wooden nest boxes. A few of my chickens were eating the eggs. Now I don't get any eggs because my chickens refuse to go in them. I even tried putting nesting material in them. It was a total waste of money. Instead of a few eggs missing I get no eggs.

This nest box arrived quickly and in good condition. It seems sturdy and was easy for me to put together. My chickens took to it after a couple of days. It does as it says. My chickens lay and the eggs roll away. They no longer eat or peck their eggs and the eggs are clean. For this box to work properly I don't put any type of nest material in it. The eggs need to be free to roll down into the tray. The chickens don't mind that there aren't cushy mounds of straw to lay eggs in. Besides, they are not sleeping there, they lay the egg and then jump out of the box. By the way, when hanging this box, never hang it higher than your roost. Chickens will roost as high as they can. Rule of thumb, never put anything in your coop or run higher than your roosting bars unless you want them to roost there. Also, you don't need one nest box for every chicken. Three of four will use the same nest box, and they have favorites. I only have six chickens right now and this three-nest box would easily accommodate 15 to 20 laying hens. They do sell this box in a larger size too. This was a little expensive for me, but it will pay for itself soon, as I get to keep my eggs for my family. I don't go out to collect eggs and see them busted, pecked and ruined. And the coop doesn't smell like busted rotten eggs. One more thing, I saw on someone else's review video, sometimes you will have a difficult and determined chicken who wants to peck at the eggs from the bottom of the collecting box, this person put good tape lining the bottom of the collecting box. So, before I even put the new nest box out in my coop, I taped the bottom of the egg collecting box as a preventative measure. Keeping with the theme of them not seeing the rolled away egg. I used the silver metal tape...the good tape. Problem solved. I would definably recommend buying this nest box.

I really wanted my chickens to love this nesting box. Pros: it was easy to put together and sturdy. Cons: the lids to the egg box do not open and close with ease, as they are right up against each other, so you kind of have to push them around to close it properly. Also, my chickens hate this product. I currently have 20 hens. I've had this now for months and my ladies refuse to lay in it. In the instructions, it is recommended to use something to make it comfy for the hens until they get used to it. I tried adding fake grass pads like I had in their old nesting boxes, and they still refuse it. The nesting pads slide down and stop the eggs from rolling in, so it is kind of pointless to use with it. Wood chips would just slide down into the box, also making it useless. I'm still trying to work on getting them to lay in it, but at this point, it just a big hunk of expensive metal that takes up space in my chicken barn. I wish i knew the secret to make this work out for my ladies.

The 3 compartment poultry nesting box was easy to put together. The directions were simple drawings showing where each piece went and the order of assembly. Only took 20 minutes to fully assemble. It is made of decent metal, no wood to rot. Yes the edges of the metal are sharp, but that's the nature of sheet metal, so wear gloves while assembling if you are tender handed.

It has been several Months since I installed this nesting box in my coop and my chickens will not use it. The edges are sharp, the plastic baskets will not stay in place, constantly sliding out. They’re unstable so my chickens don’t feel safe getting in to lay. I’ve tried everything to make them work. Worst waste of $100 I’ve made to date. The metal is thin and very sharp so be ware.

Overall I think this is an okay nest box. However, my Silkies toes have gotten stuck in the slats twice in 8 months that I’ve had this product. This last time, I had to cut the plastic to get her toes freed. This doesn’t happen with my other breeds of chickens, but I think it’s happening with my Silkies because of the location of their extra toe. So if you have Silkies, I would not recommend this!
Poultry Box
Like how it drops the eggs into the compartment, but the chickens needed a little coaxing with hey to go in them into the boxes. Eggs don't roll down as easy.
