About how many cups are in 1 pound?

There will be approximately 4 cups of clusters per pound. The 1 pound bag will have close to 4 cups, the 5 pound bag close to 20 cups and the 20 pound bag close to 80 cups.

Are the clusters soft or hard? I have twelve year old Yorkies who have lost some of their teeth. They have a hard time chewing completely hard food.
Answer by ChewyOct 24, 2019
This food is crunchy but other pet parents have reported their smaller pups are able to eat it.

Where is the food made
Answer by ChewyJul 17, 2019

Broke the hunger strike!

Our picky 27 lb Welsh Corgi doesn’t eat that much to start with relatively speaking. So we were surprised & perplexed when she went on an unexpected, total hunger strike, & would not have eat at all for over three days until very hungry & then only enough to keep her going. She actually lost two lbs. and total behavior change along with it. Of course no food eventually affected her energy level & attitude. We took her to the vet & they checked basic bloodwork done for the possibility of any physical problems, confirming her excellent health. She had always primarily eaten Royal Canin which she was weaned on, from puppy formula switching to one year formula, & continued eating as usual for 18 months. (Also briefly tried Purina Pro for puppies.) She is always a little picky & truly prefers the high-end fresh or dehydrated raw foods & similar that we made the mistake of treating her to occasionally. Those choices are way over budget as the only food; Royal Canin is fairly pricey for a kibble as it is & she preferred it over similar foods until her strike. So glad & relieved to finally find this unique, quality compromise. So far she likes it but only beef, not the chicken. She is not so fond of the powdered stuff though i can sneak some in with the cluster food & using grocery store bone broth to rehydrate. I mix it at a 1:1 ratio for consistency close to canned food (& firm poop). It is the only food she will eat right now. Also i add a little cooked ground turkey pretty often. Would rate 4.5 stars if i could but can’t go 5 Stars because would like a 10 lb bag of grain free beef clusters. Maybe i am overlooking something. Seems odd to go straight to 20 lbs with over +$1 price difference without any “medium” size & corresponding price. At least she is eating again & back to her perky self. Thank You Lord, our patient vets at AMC, & Honest Kitchen.

I have a foxhound & a greyhound, both with food issues. The nose beast is allergic to any fowl & the leggy blond has a sensitive stomach. In order to keep them both on the same food while dealing with the sensitivities of the nose beast & the additional macro needs of the leggy snoot noodle, I went through several brands with several macro compositions recommended by greyhound rescues. So many changed of them their ingredients mid-run & added chicken fats or some other fowl stuff. I landed on THK beef clusters, transitioned them both & have been feeding it for 6 months now. I use the dehydrated whole grain beef & the fish & oat as “gravy” to soften the kibble (snoot noodle has teeth issues as most greyhounds do so it’s too big & too hard out of the bag). They get “beef stew” for breakfast & supper & “surf & turf” for lunch. So far no issues on skin rash for the nose beast & the leggy blond feels all princess-y as she believes she must. I am very happy with this food & THK treat products as it has made feeding both easier & healthier.

Not for sensitive tummies

I really wanted this to work for my dog. I was transitioning him from wet food to dry and looked for something that was as high quality as his wet food. Thought this would be it. However, his stools were never normal after starting this food and he was so gassy. I waited weeks hoping that it was just the transition but it never got better. Unfortunately, I bought a large bag so most of that is going to waste now.

Kibble Crumbs

I’ve bought the beef and also turkey (which doesn’t ever seem to be here on Chewy). Beef is very bad with crumbs. I’ve also bought this product in beef in my local store, and it’s the same, crumbs. I don’t think it’s a Chewy or shipping issue. Something needs to be fixed with this product. It’s 50% dust.

Oh no! What has happened to this fabulous food??

I thought it was just a random quality issue when we got one bag with smaller, harder kibbles, much of which were broken into tiny pieces or dust. But then it happened again. This is my dog’s favorite food. We actually feed it as treats, to complement another kibble which we free-feed. She does great on it and is always excited to see it come out. But she’s been reluctant to eat these new ones. What a bummer :( Honest Kitchen, if you’re going to change your formula or manufacturing process, please do the right thing and notify your customers. There should be a note on the bag that these are not the clusters we know and trust.

Great for food allergies

My pit pull has terrible food allergies and WILL get bumps and skin infections from the leading dog brands. She has beautiful skin from this food. It is very healthy. She is also pure muscle, she does not move enough to have muscles like hers.

This food sounded like it was pretty good ingredients but my dog has been pooping pudding for 2 days on it. I change around foods often and have never had this issue. I thought "minimally processed" would be a good thing but guessing maybe the processing is different and that's not sitting well with her.

Crumbs

My dog is a picky eater but likes this food and is doing well on it. I think part of the issue with all the crumbs is with the shipping. The food might be prone to crumble but Chewy has been using big boxes with no padding and it takes a beating during transport.

I ‘want’ to like this product

I had ordered Farmina N & D dry food which made my Dodd have loose bowls & yellow vomit. After checking expire dates couldn’t figure out what was wrong. So, I ordered this dey food because it was “food grade” and seemed a healthier choice. My dogs didn’t vomit up the food but in between meals, they’re vomiting that yellow bile. Their poops consistency has improved. I’ve been adding boiled chicken & cooked rice with this new food, trying to get them back to healthy stools & no vomiting. Only time will tell?? My only complaint about this dry kibble, is there’s A LOT of crumbs in this kibble. Every scoop has a bunch of crumb in it.
