Questions & Answers

17 Customer Questions

In followup to the question regarding a chicken allergy and whether there are any chicken products in the duck recipe, if the dehydrated egg ingredient is from a chicken, wouldn't that be considered a chicken product?
Answer by ChewyJun 16, 2018
The chicken egg included in this food is due to the fact that cases in which pets who are allergic to chicken react to egg products are rare. For this reason, it is advisable to consult with your veterinarian prior to starting this food if your dog has a chicken allergy.

The 5th ingredient is dehydrated egg, since this is a duck formula can you please confirm that the egg is a duck egg and not a chicken egg?
Answer by ChewyApr 19, 2018
The dehydrated egg is from a chicken egg.

This may be an odd question, but what is the size difference between a scoop and a cup. on this box, limited Duck, the box reads 12 1/4 cups Navy Beans. Head on over to limited Turkey formula the box reads 15 scoops Navy Beans. Is this company using the words interchangeably?
Answer by ChewyMay 17, 2019
One (1) scoop is considered one (8-ounce) measuring cup.

When it says dried navy bean in the ingredients, does it mean it's cooked or raw beans?
Answer by ChewyJan 22, 2019
The beans are flash heated and then gently dehydrated to remove the moisture.

Happiest Dogs Ever!

My dogs gobble this stuff up! They never turn their noses away. Yes, it's expensive, but look at the alternative. When you give them cheap food, you will a sick pet. I've had my dogs on this for years. Knock on wood...they have ALWAYS come out with a clean bill of health and ZERO CANCER. I'm sold for life. To me, it's like pay now or pay later. I'd rather enjoy my pet healthy and happy for years longer. I know you will agree.

Genna Approved

My 11 year-old lab, who has a sensitive tum, loves this food. I got it instead of regular wet food, so it is less bulky to store than cans. I feel good about giving her different meats than just chicken or turkey (she gets sick if she eats salmon, beef, or pork). I already recommended this product to one of my clients.

Good Ingredients!!

My pups usually don’t have this kind but since HK has been in low stock of what we normally purchase, it will be an alternative for this month.

Dogs like Duck!

I purchased the limited ingredient duck in place of the limited ingredient chicken which was out of stock for my 10 year old lab who has a very sensitive digestive system. The consistency is very different from the chicken, and rather pasty, but she seems to be doing well on it and really likes it. I don't expect to keep her on it after the chicken comes back in stock however because of the added expense and fat content.

Lots of protein

My dogs loves this but both ended up with kidney infections. Lots of protein, too much for my dogs.

Been using this as a topper to their dry. May try to transition my 'old lady' over as it's easier on her teeth. Both girls seem to like it. My initial reasoning was that I've always used 'people food' as a topper and notice tremendous gas from the older dog. This seems to have really reduced that and I no longer feed them ANYTHING from the table. Trying to get ALL of us to reduce calories and be healthier.

Not A Fan of It

I use this as a topper to my dogs kibble. We typically get the beef flavor because one of my dogs is allergic to chicken. Well I tried duck & they hated it. None of them will eat it so I'll stick with the beef flavor.

My dogs won’t touch it

My dogs eat the honest kitchen so I ordered a new kind from chewy instead of the pet store. They can’t have flaxseed & the limited ingredient fish & base mix doesn’t have flaxseed. I ordered this & mixed it up. My dogs smelled it and walked away. It apparently has flaxseed. The honest kitchen isn’t consistent in their ingredient list. Now I’m stuck with it since I bought it from chewy & not the pet store & it’s not cheap!!

Honest Kitchen

I have feed limited ingredient turkey and fish as well but this is Izzy's favorite. I personally love the comfort of knowing the ingredients are human grade.
