Does this contain taurine?

Answer by ChewyApr 15, 2022
This recipe contains added taurine for heart health. The taurine content is 0.20% (minimum).

What is the source of the Natural Flavor in this recipe?

Answer by ChewyOct 24, 2025
The natural flavor is created by taking high-quality animal proteins, typically chicken liver, and treating them with natural enzymes. This gentle, natural process breaks the protein down, just like natural digestion, releasing highly concentrated aromas and flavors that are deeply meaty and savory. The result is a healthy, irresistible taste boost derived directly from the protein itself.

Where are the ingredients sourced from please?

The new 8 pound pork bag with the border collie on the front shows that quinoa has been added as the ninth ingredient which is fairly high up on the list. I avoid so called ancient grains for my dogs due to GI issues so this change was an unwelcome surprise. The list of ingredients posted by chewy on its site does not show that there has been a change in ingredients and my only indication that there has been a consequential change was the new packaging.

Nice dry pork dog food

The packaging is nice to ensure freshness, the probiotics are added after the food is cooked, giving them a better chance of viability. The pieces are crispy, but not rock hard. My super allergic dog is tolerating it well so far. Its a nice additional dry pork option.

This food seems okay. My dogs liked the taste of it and went through a whole bag. However, when I started a second bag, this time both dogs started having loose stools, vomiting, and Diarrhea. Also, I wish the kibbles were a little smaller.

Protein sensitive dog

I have a staffordshire terrier/ English bulldog mix who is blue/grey in color and he is extremely sensitive to many protein sources typically found in many dog foods. It was hard to find a dog food that didn’t include the proteins he is sensitive to and that also didn’t include other ingredients he has sensitivities to as well. This food excluded all of the things that trigger his allergies, so it’s been a great fit and he loves it!

good but...

Should be labeled for Large breed. The kibble is larger round balls that my French Bulldogs cannot chew. I have to take my meat tenderizer and break them up a bit

I don’t know why anyone uses Canola Oil especially in Dog Food. It has the most distinguished odor. Use something else or no oil at all. The fat from the proteins

Helped my pooch (and my sanity)

Let me introduce you to my xl breed, rough and tumble, bulldozer of a dog who is apparently allergic to everything.... And I mean everything. Hypoallergenic food

Let me introduce you to my xl breed, rough and tumble, bulldozer of a dog who is apparently allergic to everything.... And I mean everything. Hypoallergenic food has her chewing through her paw pads and decorating the yard like she was a graffiti artist. After so much trial and error and elimination attempts, we figured out she was allergic to (at a minimum) chicken, fish (fish oil included), peas, and synthetic glucosamine.... Has anyone tried to find a food that doesn't have one of these in it? It made me die a little inside reading that many labels, BUT!! But, my friends, I found this food. No only do the kibbles fluff up like little puppy tummy-friendly pillows if you add water (not just float around in solid, barely disintegrated blobs), the ingredient list is amazing. As in, I wish I ate this well, but at least now my pup can keep a meal in, the paw chewing and ear rashes are gone, and we don't have to keep her on long-term steroids! Yay for this food and if they ever change the formula I'm flying to Canada to their headquarters because a dramatic crying adult makes everyone uncomfortable.... I need this food to exist for forever.

Pulsar dog food

This was recommended for chicken free food. My dog hates it. We will end up throwing out half a bag.
