Horze Warren Soft Leather Horse Halter, Black, Warmblood

So here is my five star review (but SEE COMMENT at end Re: sizing!) While it may seem like a no-brainer, it is STILL darn near impossible to find an all-leather halter (cheap OR expensive) with the following 3 basic features; in fact, my 7-8 yr old CUSTOM halter is the ONLY one aside from this one that I know of that meets the following requirements: a) SOFT leather so that it does not rub the horse b) OUTWARDS facing buckle (which is critical for: i) not causing rubs to the horse; AND ii) the ability to QUICKLY undo it in an emergency situation; AND c) WIDER, SQUARE shaped (VS THIN, ROUND shaped) leather piece that goes under the horse's throat - i.e. the part of the halter corresponding to what would be the 'throat latch' on a bridle. The WIDER SQUARE shaped leather is much more ideal, since EVERY halter I've had with the THIN ROUND style tends to really poke the horse in this area. In terms of sizing however, THIS RUNS LARGE! I purchased two of them (intended for my 100% Thoroughbreds), one for my 16.2 hand gelding and the other for my 16.0 hand mare (both horses generally fit the "horse size" for fly masks and halters); and, while it fit my gelding (with all straps on the "final" holes... so we just got by without needing to use the hole puncher), it was MASSIVE on my mare and I did not even attempt to punch holes, as there would have been way too much extra leather and the holes would've needed to go in to the thicker part of the halter not intended for hole punching.
