Sizing difficult but worth the hassle!
By evabreva on Feb 26, 2021
I had a terrible time finding the right size for my supermutt dog (15lbs, chest 16, 16-17 inches long). I tried the 16XS in a different hurtta product and the 18XS for this coat first, because it recommends you size up if your dog is between measurements. The 18XS was way too large and the other product that I got the 16XS in fit but was a tighter fit than this jacket. The chewy customer service was really unhappy with my excessive winter gear purchasing from their site (sorry I’m from Minnesota- we take winter gear really seriously) so I decided to just wing it and go for the 14 because the 18XS was so large that the 16XS didn’t seem like a wise choice. Luckily it worked out and the coat fits my dog exactly how I wanted. I love the adjustable parts of the jacket. When going for potty walks, I use the inside buttons to pin up the back because my dog cannot poop with the back closed. After my dog poops/if we are hiking or playing at the park, I close the back part up. My dog’s body is always warm but not too hot when I remove the jacket. I’ve taken my dog out in sun zero weather for 30-60 minutes and he was warm and cozy. I don’t use this jacket for weather above 30F unless there is a severe windchill. It seems a bit much for weather above 30F, but I’m sure it depends on the age, weight, and build of your dog. The picture of my dog was taken on a snowy day, 15-16F, mild wind conditions. I would highly recommend this coat for anyone who lives in a place that has subzero weather and/or does a lot of winter hiking. The quality is beyond any other jacket I tried... and I tried them all! It’s durable, warm, and adjustable. I’m so grateful my dog can love winter as much as me now! … more

Great jacket, great customer service!
By Jacob on Jan 27, 2021
I ordered this jacket for my 13yo jack Russell terrier, in preparation for early spring camping in 20-30 degree lows (he sleeps inside my sleeping bag, but this will keep him warm when we’re outside the tent). The quality of the jacket is fantastic- it’s so much thicker than any other dog jacket I’ve seen, more like a human winter coat. It seems very comfortable and my dog was happy to put it on and doesn’t mind the snood at all! After his first walk in 25 degrees, his fur felt toasty warm underneath the coat! I initially ordered a size 20, which turned out to be way too big. When I emailed chewy customer service to return the size 20 jacket, they gave me back my money and told me to just keep I ordered this jacket for my 13yo jack Russell terrier, in preparation for early spring camping in 20-30 degree lows (he sleeps inside my sleeping bag, but this will keep him warm when we’re outside the tent). Quality Coat but hard to size
By Nikki on Feb 11, 2021
This is a great looking and feeling dog jacket. The black is not a true black but a very dark charcoal. I read all the reviews and got my border collie a size 26. If I could do over I'd get a size or even 2 smaller. He has a long body, long legs and a deep chest, otherwise is very lean. So the coat doesn't tighten enough on the belly strap ( I love the buckle) and the back end of the coat falls to one side after he wears it awhile. Otherwise it is extremely adjustable. I would have exchanged for a smaller coat in a different color, but he needed it right away as it's been well below zero here. At -18 F this morning he was warm and toasty and looking adorable. Overall great product although spendy and I would try again for my boyfriend's greyhound. … more

Excellent coat!
By DWalsh on Feb 15, 2021
Very nice quality. My dog is about 50 pounds and is quite broad-chested. The 22-inch is a pretty good fit for her (maybe a smidge big, but she wears it well). The design is pretty ingenious. It doesn't require the dog to step in, which is great since my dog does not always cooperate when wearing clothes. There is an opening on the back for you to use the back loop of a harness for connecting a leash. The coat stays in place when the dog walks, although it does slip a bit when she gets into a trot. My girl doesn't always wear a coat, but there have been highs in the single-digits in the last week or so and this coat has made it possible for us to get outside long enough for her to do what needs Very nice quality. Super Warm and Worth Every Penny!
By RhoRidge on Feb 14, 2021
This is one of *the* best dog coats we've ever invested in! (The other is the Hurtta Expedition Parka.) It's difficult to find a coat that appropriately fits a Rhodesian Ridgeback, but this one is definitely an exception. Quality construction, brilliant features (the cinchable hood keeps ears toasty warm), super warm (this coat starts to warm instantly because of the reflective material built into the interior fabric), and fits like it was custom made just for my dogs! A quality coat is worth the investment to ensure it lasts for generations, and I'm sure this one will. The 65cm/26" fits our 78-80# girls ideally. A smaller (65-70#) RR could potentially fit into a 60cm/24". This coat is worth This is one of *the* best dog coats we've ever invested in! (The other is the Hurtta Expedition Parka.) It's Warm But That's It
By Nootka on Feb 25, 2021
This jacket was a huge disappointment. The sizing is off and it took three tries to find the right one. Then, we discovered that even though it fits my vizsla perfectly, the back flaps hang down in such a way that she poops on them. If they're snapped together than the poo actually gets CAUGHT on the jacket like a perfect little poo swing . NOT cool! Also, this thing is not waterproof at all. Calling it water resistant is generous even. Finally, one of the leg straps tore off the first time she wore it. I tried sewing on a new one but the stupid jacket just falls all over the place. It's always slumping to one side and annoying the heck out of her - and me too just because who wants to see such This jacket was a huge disappointment. Weird sizing for small dogs, but still worth it
By Cocoa on Feb 15, 2021
I have a long-hair chihuahua that is a bit larger than the typical chihuahua. Her back length is about 13.5 inches and weighs about 11 lbs. I originally sized up to a 14 in as recommended, but she was swimming in it! Since it was so large, I ended up ordering both the 12 in and 10 in. The 10 in fit her neck and chest nicely, but the length was much too short, so I ended up keeping the 12 in. It fits the length of her body perfectly, but is a bit big around her chest and neck. Still worth it since it keeps her warm!

Perfect winter coat!
By Petmom on Feb 18, 2021
My 30 lb. Rat Terrier mix loves this coat. His tail curves over his back and that causes fit issues with other coats but this coat allows him to carry his tail naturally or in a cold wind he can let his tail hang down and I can snap the back to keep his tail warm. He also has very large erect terrier ears and the coat provides a cozy lightweight ear cover for rain or wind. After a couple tries (Thank you Chewy!) I got a custom fit that is perfect for him. Not only is the fit perfect because of the built in ways to customize this coat, but in addition the quality of the materials and the workmanship is outstanding. Exceeded expectations for my Rhodesian Ridgeback
By anna on Feb 7, 2021
Before buying my dogs first coat I did sooooo much research. I decided on style, fit, etc. And settled on a chilly dogs Canada jacket. I already knew what would be important to me so when I saw this warm winter coat with all the features I wanted I decided to take the risk. Rhodesians are hard to buy clothes for because they are long and lean with deep chests. They are all so different and sizing can be a real bear. My guy fell right in the middle of the size 26 chart so I went with it. The jacket is a tiny bit big but it will work with an additional fleece layer below if I ever wanted to layer it. I love love love this thing. It keeps him warm and he has full range of motion. The only thing Before buying my dogs first coat I did sooooo much research. Fits sighthounds, great for extreme cold!
By JennF on Feb 22, 2021
I got a pair of these coats for our Silken Windhounds when we moved to Minnesota - so happy I did! Our boys are on the larger end of the breed (40 and 46 lbs), and 22" is quite roomy, but the coats are very adjustable and stay on great when they're playing in the yard, although I use them mostly for longer walks. Even when they need to go outside in -24 F weather, they stay toasty and comfortable and can eliminate without soiling their coats. We've used these coats for 3 winters now, and they still look like new.
