Kittens up to 24 weeks: Feed suggested daily amount in 3 - 4 meals per day. 24 weeks and older: Feed in 2 - 4 meals per day. Adjust food to maintain ideal body condition.
Feeding Guidelines: These guideline amounts are a starting point and your kitten may need more food depending upon age, activity and temperament. In order to reach optimal body condition, you may need to adjust food intake. This represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide the total recommended feeding amount by the number of times you feed your cat per day to get the actual portion size per feeding.
• If you have a kitten, pregnant or nursing cat, we recommend feeding IAMS kitten food.
• Remember to have clean, fresh water available for your kitten at all times.
Because IAMS Proactive Health Healthy Kitten food is complete and balanced for kittens, you do not need to add vitamin or mineral supplements. When introducing IAMS kitten food, gradually mix it with your kitten's current food over the course of 4 days.
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time.
- Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days.
- Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days.
- Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days.
- Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
