Has the Instinct Limited Ingredient salmon cat dry kibble been tested for mercury or other toxins that are common in fish? If so, does it contain any toxins?

Answer by ChewyOct 09, 2019
While Nature's Variety doesn't test for the mercury amount in the final product, they do test the levels of the fish they use before adding it to the product. The amount of mercury in salmon is really low so there isn't much concern on using salmon in this formula.

Is the salmon in this food wild caught. or is it farmed salmon?

Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2022
This food includes wild caught salmon.

Is this food gmo free?

Answer by ChewyJan 30, 2022

Kitty loves this diet food!

I switched my 2YO female grrey tuxedo kitty from Rachel Ray Salmon and Chickpea without a transition of half/half. She didn't balk at this new diet food at all!

I've been buying this food for my cat for a while now, but they must have changed their recipe, because suddenly my cat was vomiting it up. She has a shellfish allergy, so I suspect there might have been some contamination, because it wasn't expired and smelled fine.

I had high hopes for this limited ingredient food for my cat with IBD. The ingredients are clean and simple, which is exactly what we were looking for. Unfortunately, it just didn’t sit well with him, we saw a return of soft stools and some vomiting even after a slow transition. Probably a great option for some cats, but not the right fit for ours.

Not the fav. With my kitty

My cat continued to throw up every time she ate this flavor/kind. The salmon doesn't seem like a good mix with my cat.

Cats Wouldn't Eat This

When I mixed it with their regular food, they ate it. But when it's all they had, they went a day and a half not eating at all.

So picky

I have another cat I’m going to have to switch her for her too because he goes for her Friskies.

What leftovers?

Balloona loves her Instinct food. The small kibble size is perfect for her. We have also noticed an improvement in how shiny and soft her fur is now.
