The ingredients list shows that there is an element of "clay" in it--why? why is there "clay" in this food? cats would not eat clay in nature.

Montmorillonite Clay is approved by AAFCO for use as an anticaking processing aid to adsorb excess moisture and to help keep the food from clumping. The Montmorillonite Clay used in Nature's Variety diets is tested for dioxins and it is guaranteed dioxin-free.
