The Raw Difference

Unlike traditional, cooked pet foods, raw pet food retains more important antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that are key to helping your pet live a healthier life. Common changes noticed by pet parents who feed raw include better digestion, improved skin and coat, improved weight, relief from food sensitivities, and increased energy and vitality. Feeding as little as 20% raw as part of your pet’s diet can have a positive impact on your pet’s life.

The Benefits of Raw

Here are some of the positive changes you may notice when you start feeding your pet 100% raw nutrition.

Why would you kill baby animals to feed cats who wouldn’t kill lambs themselves

Answer by JessicaJan 06, 2026
We all have to eat! Last I checked dogs and cats didn't survive on grass

How many dry cups are in the 24 ounce bag?

Answer by ChewyJul 14, 2021
Instinct Freeze Dried Meals there are approximately 2 oz. per cup.

Why is there clay in this? Will it keep them from absorbing the vitamins and minerals?

Answer by ChewyMar 22, 2023
Instinct uses Montmorillonite Clay sourced from deposits in southern Utah and have used this same natural source for many years. Montmorillonite Clay is approved by AAFCO for use as an anticaking processing aid to absorb excess moisture and to help keep the food from clumping. Instinct is committed to using high quality, safe ingredients.

We had to introduce it to them very slowly. By one piece a day for a couple days then 2 pieces and kept adding more any faster one would get the runs. Now no problem and they love it even our one very picky eater who on occasion still tries not to eat. We use it as a topper for their dry food.

I have a very picky little Mini Schnauzer. After speaking with Kristi on the phone yesterday afternoon, I purchased this for my dog. She loved Primal Lamb for 13 years until they recently changed the recipe; Stella Chewy for a few days, and then didn't like anything. Kristi is a wonderful customer service representative! She listened to my concerns and helped me find this new food for my dog. She was so thoughtful and helpful. She is one of the reasons I keep coming back to Chewy every time. Also- This bag was delivered within 24 HOURS!!?? I must live near a distribution center but this is amazing.. Thank you for your help.. I hope she keeps liking this... Thank you, Chewy for all of your help and support. Kristi is a superstar!

I use these as a treat to teach my dog new tricks. He’s very obedient when I take these out. I don’t have to worry about overdoing it with something as healthy as these are. Great price when you factor in how much comes in a bag in comparison to your regular dog treat.

My girl was diagnosed with lymphoma at 2 1/2 yrs old- we started chemo with hopes she will go into remission. My vet recommended lamb/ salmon that contains good omega and healthy protein . My girl was already on prescription digestive care and was worried it would upset her stomache. Well so far she loves it , her poop has never been better and her labs prior to chemo for the past 3 months have come back normal and we continue with treatment . We still have a couple more weeks to go but I believe this diet is giving my girl a fighting chance . My vet is surprised we have not had to skip chemo because her labs are normal despite the chemo which suppresses everything.

We use this primarily as backup food, treats, on the go food and for when we need to leave food down because we will be late coming home. Our little guy, Koda (Frenchie), is a picky eater, we've actually resorted to cooking his food ourselves after trying several of the 'fresh' foods. And despite being picky, he really seems to like this food and we're happy the the nutrional value of the food.
