Stiff and not very secure

This thing jiggles a lot even with the straps fully around the designated headrests. I have a Basset Hound, and her body is about the same length as a Labrador,

This thing jiggles a lot even with the straps fully around the designated headrests. I have a Basset Hound, and her body is about the same length as a Labrador, but with the legs of a Dachshund...she can't really stretch out in this thing even though the images suggest she should be able too, with it having been made for "large" dogs. The padding on the base is not comfortable, so we had to place a bed for her to lie on for added cushion. The ventilation holes are on the sides of it, which means she doesn't get any direct airflow from the A/C vents in the back of my Forester, which bothers me and I'm sure bothers her too. The only good things I have to say about it is that the zippers and material it's made of seem durable (we went on a 15 hrs there and 15 hrs back road trip to and from WV for Thanksgiving and it survived the trip). I honestly want to return it, but don't know if I'm able to now that it has been used.
