I’ve never bought cultures before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The container honestly looks so disgusting with worms and a layer of sludge at the bottom and hundreds if jumpy flightless flies. These little bugs work great. They arrived May 21st and the last ones died today June 24th. Slowly the population just started decreasing but I just have one mantis so it’s not a problem. I kept the culture in the box it came in a dark cabinet. I heard some people can get mites if you expose your culture to sun too often. But I had no problems, I’ll be purchasing bigger versions for my growing ghost mantis. Tip for getting just a few flies: Have another empty small container and lid nearby to transfer the flies. Tap the cultures container on table a few times before opening Open it and sprinkle the flies into the empty container. Quickly tap both containers on the table a few times and close them. You gotta do all these steps quick because the flies are jumpy. Just make sure you tapping the container on the table to keep them at the bottom of the container before opening.

First time hopefully last

I usually get outstanding quality when I order fruit fly colonies specifically but this past order was the first batch I got that was moldy and non providing.

Dead fruitflies

I ordered fruitflies for my frogs and they arrived dead. They were nice enough to send me a replacement. Those two were dead.

Due to the temperature when shipped. When they did take off and started hatching I had wayyyy to many for the two tiny Spring Peepers I have. So my tropical fish got daily feeding also. That first wave are finally gone and a new wave of flies are on their way to hatching. Worth the price for sure.

Lack of live bugs

I ordered these flightless fruit flies for my pray mantises and I have ordered them from this website before. However, this time they arrived and all of the flies had died, in the package it said that the larvae would grow to be flies in 2-3 days. 2-3 days come around and none of the larvae has hatched and they appeared to be dead. All of my pray mantises unfortunatelt died due to them having no food to eat. I tried other options, such as outdoor bugs but they were not eaten.
