Questions & Answers

Would this brush be safe to use daily or on a more regular basis? I want to cut down on shedding and I've read de-shedding tools can cut the undercoat if used to frequently. I know this is not technically a de-shedding tool but it seems to get a lot of fur out. How often to brush for best results?
Answer by ChewyOct 14, 2020
Anywhere from several times a week to daily is fine for medium-haired cats. If your cat's hair is denser or if they shed a lot, daily is better. Slicker brushes work well to remove dirt, dander and dead and loose hair. When used regularly they'll prevent matting, but can also be used to help remove them.

Will this work for a short haired cat?
Answer by ChewyNov 02, 2017
This slicker brush is suitable for all cat breeds and will work on short, medium, and long haired felines.

What is the size of the brush head ?
Answer by ChewySep 03, 2018
The brush head is approximately 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall.

Are the pins plastic or steel?
Answer by ChewyMar 03, 2018
This Brush features flexible stainless steel tines.

My cat loves this brush

This brush is not sharp at all on the ends like a lot of these type of brushes are. The ends are blunt and do not scratch or tear your skin or your cat's skin. My cat was really happy when I combed this thru her hair and when my cat is happy, I am happy. It also removes hair. Love it.

Great for longer, thin hair

This is just what my long thin-haired cat needed. It separates the thin strands to keep them for getting knotted up. Really wish I would have bought this sooner, but so happy to have it now for my li'l Tom Bombadillo! <3

Best ever slicker brush

Both my long haired fancy cat and his short haired alley cat brother enjoy being brushed with this slicker. Does a great job. But note that now shipping white ones, not the dark brown as shown. White not a good idea for anything pet related. Chewy should pay more attention and show the actual product they are selling.

Cats don't like this

Based on the reviews I selected this brush. The sound when brushing is disturbing to my cats. They simply refuse to be brushed. That, plus the fur is not easily removed, is the reason for the low rating.

Best Brush Yet

I have two cats, one long hair, and one short and they both love being brushed with the Gripsoft Cat Slicker Brush.

Wire bristles are stabby

My cat avoids this brush. I was actually cleaning some cat hair out of the bristles with my fingers and one of the bristles pierced through my skin! Ouch. This brush may feel good to some cats, but based on how stabby it is I understand why my cat does not like it.

I LOVES my brushies!

My mom got me this brush when I was just six months old. It's purrfect! I love brushies - I get so excited when it's time. It feels SO GOOD and helps keep me clean (it's hard to do since I have so. much. fur #longhairdontcare). My brother doesn't like it so much (he's a shorthair, lame). Mom pricks herself sometimes when cleaning it, but it's okay, she has opposable thumbs (what a dumb hooman). GET THE BRUSH, then brush me please. :)

works well, hard to clean

We groom our kittens with multiple brushes, one just to loosen everything, and this one to gather all of it up and get whatever the previous brush may have missed. The trade off for not having a slicker brush that's self cleaning is that it will do a better job of gathering up all the fur, but it does take more effort to get it all out of the bristles without bending them out of shape. The handle is comfortable and easy to keep hold of.
