Yes! Your dog sits in the “begging” position which is a natural stance for dogs and does not create any pressure points on healthy legs and spines. Your dog is also leaning up against your body which creates stability and comfort. Furthermore, we developed multiple strap systems that support the dog’s lumbar region, upper back and upper shoulders to allow as much freedom of movement as possible without sacrificing the snugness your dog needs. Based on veterinarian feedback we recommend that dogs not stay in the bag for any more than 45 continuous minutes. Although your dog may protest, he/she should have 15 minutes out of the bag for every 45 minutes in the bag.
When used correctly, extremely safe. When we designed the K9 Sport Sack safety was our priority. The bag comes equipped with a “D” ring that clips to the dog’s collar as well as a system of safety straps that protect the occupant while offering structural and ergonomic support.
Yes! Although this will not take the place of choosing the correct size, the K9 Sport Sack comes equipped with a system of cinch straps that secure the dog snuggly in the bag and limit the dog’s balance altering mobility.
It depends on the disability and condition of your dog. Please consult with your veterinarian if you have concerns about how the K9 Sport Sack may affect your dog’s condition. The K9 Sport Sack was designed for healthy dogs and accepts no liability for the exacerbation of disabilities.

It says up to 30lb but I wouldn't recommend it for dogs that big. It looks so uncomfortable for my poor pup, who is 20lb with long limbs. It takes a long time to put (more like stuff) him into the bag and it feels like his legs and tail are being squished into a horrible squatting position. I wish it had leg holes. He doesn't whine or cry but seems stunned and unhappy in it. It also gets so heavy... I can't imagine wearing it for more than 10 min for either of us. Will be trying a different backpack out.
I/we LOVE this K9 Sport Sack Air2 backpack. We have an 18 pound Cavapoo (King Charles Cavalier + Poodle). This has helped us immensely as she can go with us places she couldn’t before, including stores, biking, or hiking where I might not want her to be walking (muddy path, burrs or other areas that I don’t want her walking through). Measuring a dog for this pack is a challenge - there is just no exact location for “collar” nor exact location for “tail base” so that measurement can vary. Our puppers measured 17.5” so we were right on the border and puppy would have maybe fit well in a Small size OR a Medium. I went with a Medium, and while she fit in it okay, she sunk a little lower than I wanted. So for our 18lb dog, we instead got the small size in black and it’s perfect! I wouldn’t recommend this bag for a dog much larger than 20 pounds, only because carrying that weight is a little tough, and it is pretty hot on MY back while carrying the dog… great for short hikes and bikes, but depending on the temps, it could be a challenge. The name badge can be purchased through the company who does the bag - I looked for this via Chewy, but not available except by the company K9 sport Sak. GREAT bag… highly recommend. Well made, strong, pretty easy to get puppy into (after some practice and a patient dog)… all in all 5 stars!
Love this product! This dog backpack is pretty great! I wish I got this sooner. My sweet pup is slowing down from cancer, and I got this to use for some last adventures together. When he was a puppy I tried another pack that I had to sit him into - he would absolutely NOT go for that. This design is a lot better and well made! I watched a video tutorial about how to use the pack and that helped a lot. It was a little tricky to get him into at first but he allows me to get him into it and once on, he seems comfortable. For me, the pack is decently comfortable, but for a heavier dog, I'd definitely get the bigger pack with more padding/cushion/bigger straps. I do have to cinch up the straps almost as high as they go to keep him up high enough on my back... it's not the most comfortable thing but totally okay for short periods, I've only used it for about 30 minutes at a time. If I wanted to use the pack for longer periods, I would probably get one of the higher end models - but for quick activities this is perfect! For sizing, my Scottie is 22lb and 16" neck to tail - by the size chart he could have gotten into the S but after reading other reviews and looking at photos, I got the M and I think it's perfect. If between sizes, I'd size up because you can add a towel or blanket to fill out if there's a little extra space.
I got this product for my 14lb shih tzu mix who is 11 and has a pretty long body. She was right on the line of measurements between small/medium - small fits perfect and she is secure in there.
My dog loves his backpack, I take him everywhere with it now. Great for hiking and striking. Truly recommend
I bought a size small for my 10 lb pup. Easy to get her into the backpack with two people. She is not thrilled but does not object either. The backpack itself is well made and comfortable for me to carry her for long walks. No complaints so far, but just wish it had a little more padding at the bottom so that it is more comfortable for my pup to sit in it.
My Lil Dude got use to his carrier in two days!! Measurements were spot on and he gets excited when I take it out now. Quality of the bag it great!! Time to take him bike riding!!
My senior rescue pup is blind and deaf, but he loves to go everywhere with me! This is perfect for hiking trips. Lorenzo is a Chinese Crested and fit in a size medium. I had to use a folded hand towel to boost his height a little, but it worked perfect (try this if needed, the hand towel is the perfect width for the bottom of the bag!)
My 8yr yorkipoo likes to walk with my younger dog, but his age and joint pain make it hard to keep up. I bring the backpack with me on walks, and when the he starts getting too tired, it takes about 30 seconds to put him in the backpack and put it on. It can be tricky to take on and off by yourself. I think if he were bigger than 10 lbs I would need an extra set of hands.
The second I got this pack in the mail I opened it, put my 19 pound 17in long schnauzer in it, and went for a walk. He is beefy since we live on a farm and spend our days outside running around. However when we want to go hiking he gets anxious to be in a new environment. I noticed last time when I picked him up he calmed right down. He wasn't too hard to put in the medium pack and on the second try, after we came in from the walk, I was able to get him in by myself. He seemed to really like it and was content to let me do all the work. Lol! The straps are sturdy and very adjustable. There seems to be a lot of care put into making the dog comfortable. The chest strap is fine and overall I like the pack! I can't wait for our adventures with it!
