We haven’t used it yet but it’s obviously made well. I would have given it 5 stars but it’s not an ideal fit for our dog. At 20 pounds, he is normal weight for a Westie but Westies have a wide girth. We had to exchange the small for a medium which fits his girth but is too long so we will have to fill in the bottom of the pack with a towel or something.
Ordered for a puppy who cannot walk the distances the other dogs can. Order booster seat as well. The bag has worked perfectly, as expected, without any issue.
I gave this as a gift to my sons girlfriend per her request . She had researched the backpack and used a friends , so knew the one she wanted and is very happy !! The ordering process was easy and delivery was right on time ... Thanks Chewy
I got this as a gift for my brother. He does a lot of hiking with his pup and has been stranded before at points where he had to carry her in his arms for miles to get back to the car. This was the perfect gift as their dog is still a puppy and gets tired after so long. My brother loves it and says its much more comfortable than having to carry her in his arms.
I was worried about the sizing because I had seen reviews about it being the wrong size so I measured my dog 3-4 times, exactly how it suggests and ended up getting the size large. My pup fits perfect. Getting her into it was a little difficult but once she got used to it she loved it!! 10/10 recommend!!!
We are big hikers and always love to bring our puppy with us however she can't handle a lot of distance so we were looking for the perfect backpack and we found it. Highly recommend them. She's about 20lbs and fits perfectly in a medium size.
I originally purchased the Air Plus 2 for hiking with my 13 pound Westie. While this was a great training backpack, I found it to be difficult to carry her in due to the fact that her weight would pull on the straps and she would end up slouching backwards as we walked. I ended up having to hold the straps, pulling her back up as I walked. Initially, we'd only hike about 1 mile. It was when I hiked 3 miles with her like this that I ended up straining my lower back and was out of commission for a couple days. I purchased the knavigate and my....what a difference. This bag is built way better and has way more support features for both you and your fur baby. I was able to hike 3 miles with her without any problems whatsoever...hands free! There is also a more stable platform sewn into the bottom of where the dog sits so she doesn't end up sinking into the bag. The waist strap is wonderful. Wish I had just spent the extra money for this one in the first place. And my westie...let's just say the word "hike" is met with an eager rush to the knavigate hanging by our coats.
I ordered a medium which may have worked for my dog, but the frame was too tall for my relatively short torso. I"m a 5'3" woman. I may try exchanging it for a smaller one, but I'm not sure that will fit my dog. Seems well made, and I really appreciate the design with the space for supplies, chest clip, and hip belt.
I really wanted to love this item as much as I loved the idea of it. The sizing of it does not fit my dog and it cuts off in a weird spot on his arms. My dog is now terrified and too late to return this item.
In conclusion, it seems like a nice backpack with durable fabric. My dog is in between size, even though she meets the low limit of the size requirement, she was swallowed by the backpack. We tried out for size, and when she was taken out of the pack, I felt like she was a bit warmer than usual. Also, we struggled getting to get her butt in the backpack. Will need to get a size down to really try out how it works for hike.
