Feed as the sole ration to rodents.
I used the new customer code and got this very inexpensive and my rats just eat it up! It should last me a while although I just give them a few scoops a day I don’t want to over feed them which can be easy having a large bag of food on hand so I will calculate what rat needs and use that to make sure I feed them correctly
I have been using this feed for a while now. While my rats are thriving on it, I’ve noticed there is more dust that there was no that ago. I understand food from mills will be mildly dusty. But when I have 2-3” of dust at the bottom of my feed container r from one bag, that’s a little much.
So at first my rats loved this now after feeding for a while they have dropped weight despite enough food being out.
i wanted to try this rat food as i mainly feed all my babies oxbow rat food and i just wanted to see how they’d do on a real brick diet & just see if they’d like it in general as this it the only rat food that is a real HUGE bag and had a decent price , they all seemed to like it but some get sick of it fast and would refuse to eat then eat it , they only eat it if they are truly hungry, it’s a decent quality food though & it’s not bad for them , it’s good for the price as well , i will continue to buy , but the brick quality could be better as most of the bottom of the bag was just powder that
I breed rats to feed my guys and I sell the surplus to try cover expenses (ie - Rat chow). It's less than $29 per bag delivered with autoship and a two bag order. The price is right, the rats eat it, quick Chewy delivery, and they are breeding as well as ever. Especially like the density of the blocks, with very little wasted powder at the bottom of the barrel when I am done with a bag. With Mazuri, I felt like I was paying for 3 pounds of chow dust in a 50# bag that was of no use to me or the rats.
Such a big bag and small pieces usually the food I get is much too big compared to his so it's much easier for them to grab and eat. Only down side is it took longer to ship it out and had to email them but right away it shipped after complaining.
For the price at 50lbs couldn't pass it up ! When I go threw quite a bit of rodent food a month ! Other then arriving open( customer service quickly took care of that) I was pleased to see smaller sizes then the mazuri blocks !
We have been feeding this food since July 2022 due to the previous food I was feeding no longer being produced. I have noticed a decrease in heath in my colonies, I would NOT recommend this food to anyone who has a breeding colony! Ps No other factors have changed other than this food being provided.
Kalmbach-Your food is awesome. I was using Mazuri before switching. It was recommended to me on a pet rat group on Facebook. I hated Mazuri because it is extremely dusty and my cage has solid plastic floor shelves, it made it so gross to clean as all the dust would get wet and then cement itself to the shelves. That is an issue no more! Thank you!!!
Rats and mice have all taken to to it without issue. In fact the young rats were very excited about it. I purchased as it’s essentially equivalent nutritionally to Mazuri but I can order it online vs having to drive 30 minuets to pick up the breeder Mazuri. It’s also cheaper and the pellets are better formed. I’ll be interested to see if this changes breeding performance. Hopefully we will have no set backs.
