Pet comfort, ease of use & lightweight

I started using this 6 months earlier at home and to go to the vet so my Cavalier King Charles was comfortable with it. I like that the base is washable for easy cleanup after use. I am disabled so I needed a rolling case to allow me to transport my dog easily. This was a Jetblue flight Boston to Florida. When we flew it was very easy to velcro her carrier to the metal wheel base with handle at the car to wheel her through the airport safely and I was able to wheel my checked bag. Later I detached the carrier from the base at security where they want the pet held in my arms to go through machine, then I reattached and wheeled to the gate and onto the plane then detached on the plane and slid her into place. Make sure the velcro is closed after detaching on the plane, mine was left exposed and was sticking to the carpet and for a moment I thought she wasn't fitting but once I attached the velcro to itself properly she slid easily right under the seat in front of me and rested comfortably for the flight with my feet resting easily on either side of the carrier. Vet meds probably helped too but the experience was comfortable for her and I saw her turn around and reposition a few times. The small metal wheel base fit easily on top of our carryon backpack in the overhead, the dog was at my feet so no room for anything else there. It was nice to be able to hold my hand to her face reassuringly or reach in through the top with a little water, the top and side windows are very helpful. Overall this worked wonderfully, worth every penny spent.

Easy to assemble and Mr. Everything-is-mine was in it before I could even attach it to the wheeled base. Plenty of room for his large frame (and girth), it’s not a “5” because I have not actually used it for transport

Worked great, you may have to convince
At the ticket counter I had to demonstrate the smushability of the tall profile. AND indicate the wheel carriage comes off. Then was cleared. It will fit. Stick

I was nervous. Often fly in an Embraer which is a smaller aircraft anyway. And sometimes the gate agents can be tyrants. And the under seat height isn’t great on the Embraer. But it worked. And the mesh was appreciated by our girl. We made it through. The removal of the wheel carriage isn’t difficult - velcro. Just make sure you cover the velcro back up with the flaps or it will stick to the carpet and won’t scoot under. Our 13lb girl hates, HATES travel. But she was really much better in this than our old traditional soft side carrier. I think the space and tallness really helped her in transit. Some gate agents may consider the wheel carriage your second item. This first trip with the new kennel - zero problem. But depends on your situation.

For specifically airline travel, I really like this carrier. It's lightweight, soft-sided and is easy to "squish" under the seat. I had to take the wheels off to fit it under the airline seat but it's easy to do (and recommend doing so before you board your flight as it's not as easy with your pet in the carrier). If you have a pet that will claw/paw the sides, might not be the best choice as the mesh is very fine which I liked because it's seems to have good airflow and I like the lighter weight. My dog is 13 and is very easy going so this worked well for him. The wheels worked great and made navigating the airport much easier.
