Would this be okay for three rats?
Answer by ChewyJan 08, 2018
It is recommended that each rat needs 2 cubic feet of space available. This Habitat has approximately 9.5 cubic feet and will be suitable.

Would a guinea pig like this cage? I’m wondering if she will climb on the different levels.
Answer by ChewyMar 14, 2019
This cage is not recommended for use with a Guinea pig. Any levels higher than roughly 6 inches, cause a safety concern for them.

What is the spacing between the wires?
Answer by ChewyJun 12, 2018
The bar spacing is 1/2 inch between wires.

Would this be okay to house 4 10 week baby rats in for a month or so?
Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2018
This will be alright to house the baby rats for a month.

An okay TEMPORARY enclosure

My baby rats chewed a hole in the side of the plastic at the bottom of the pan. It lasted about 3 months before they did it, but I think that was only because I kept them entertained and engaged. I would not suggest this as a permanent enclosure, especially if your small animals love to chew.

waste of money

Rat is already chewing through cage, waiting on a response for a refund if possible. Do not buy, not worth it.

Rats Chewed Through

I received this cage with a tiny piece of plastic already missing from the base. Over time, my rats gnawed through it and I woke up to them loose in my house.

It’s huge!

Perfect for our teddy bear hamster. One of the ramps doesn’t stay on completely but it still works fine. Plenty of room to run around and play. Love it!

Great cage

I bought two of these cages to replace two You and Me Rat Manor cages, which I absolutely hated. I considered getting the Critter Nation cages but thought I would try these, because I liked the Kaytee Rat Home cages that I bought as holding/travel cages for my two girls and two boys. I much prefer these large Kaytee cages to the Rat Manor. The plastic shelves make it much easier to clean because of the solid surface and the fact that I don't have to constantly worry about having to cover the wire mesh mid-level platform and shelves to protect their feet. I also like the deeper base. Time will tell if I have a chewing problem on the plastic base. I think I will be okay with these sets of rats. I also like the green, even though some people have noted that the color is something they did not like. I am already finding that the dread of cleaning and the mess flying out of the cages has gone down. I wish I would have gotten these cages to start with and saved the money I spent on the Rat Manor cages. I would definitely advise rat owners to avoid cages with wire mesh shelving areas, unless you have used them and are okay with constantly having wash/replace towels, fleece or other bedding materials just to try to keep the wire from potentially harming your rats.

Useless for rats

We have two rats. They chewed through the thin plastic base/tray of the cage in 2 days. This is not suitable for rats.

My rat's love it!

I shopped around on every pet site there are the available pet stores in my area etc. Chewy had this cage for the most competitive price. The cage is more flimsy than say one of those more expensive larger cages, but it WORKS, I have three fancy's and they love this cage. It is big enough in the base for fun toys, and tall enough that you can add as many hides or hammocks you think your furkids will need or want. The assembly was easy, you might need to have two people simply because of its size. I do wish it had a top door for better access to the top of the cage and back. As long as my little guys are happy I'm happy! Also Chewy did a great job with quick shipping, right now, during the pandemic that's been an issue, it can take weeks to get things sometimes, but Chewy said one to two days and that's how long it took.

Spacious but not for pets who like to chew !

I bought this cage for my Female and her two 1 month old babies ,it’s pretty spacious !! My only issue is that my female chewed a golf ball size hole on the corner through the plastic !! I also read of other pets chewing clamps for the ramps off .So if you have a chewer or pet gets bored easily then I suggest that this cage isn’t for your pet .

Chewed Through

We loved this cage for our 2 female rats. We got it for them when they were still babies back in Nov of 2019. In July 2020 they chewed 2 giant holes through the base. We have now upgraded to an all-steel ferret cage to contain our girls. The grey runways are cheap and will not last. I would spend the extra money now on something that will last.

Great pen!

This is a terrific pen for rats or other small animals. Probably too big for a mouse or similar sized animal though. My only complaint would be they should have put a door in the top of the cage for better access, but it's still well worth it!
