Would a guinea pig like this cage? I’m wondering if she will climb on the different levels.

Answer by ChewyMar 14, 2019
This cage is not recommended for use with a Guinea pig. Any levels higher than roughly 6 inches, cause a safety concern for them.

What is the spacing between the wires?

Answer by ChewyJun 12, 2018
The bar spacing is 1/2 inch between wires.

Do you think this would work for my dwarf rabbit?

Answer by ChewyMay 01, 2018
This product is not suitable for Rabbits of any kind.

Would this be suitable for a squirrel?

Answer by ChewySep 21, 2018
This habitat isn't suitable for squirrels.

I have a teddy bear hamster and I am in college. I have taken this thing home for breaks, back, and everything in between! Plenty of room, especially for my girl who is a climber. It’s had doors shut on it, been taken apart, and so forth. If you have any bigger animals, I wouldn’t recommend, even my ham needs lots of extra enrichment with this cage, but for a res hall room where space is super limited, she does great! My only complaint is that the latch that connects the bedding pan to the wiring is very weak and the wiring can drop from the pan and make a mess transporting. But if you’re balling on a budget with minimal room as well, this is great!

Great for Smaller Rats (NOT FOR OTHER ANIMALS)

This is a great cage for maybe two smaller rats or a few younger rats. I probably wouldn't put any duo/group of adult male rats in here as I always recommend going bigger rather than smaller. I'm currently using it as a temporary cage for one of my boys. Could also be good as a ferret travel cage. I find that a lot of people tend to have a really plain or boring set up which can be why some rats are more prone to chewing the base. I haven't had an issue with my rats chewing through the base of cages like this. I always take the levels out of these kind of cages and make it into a more active layout with baskets/ledges and ropes. Its important to provide your rats with enrichment as well. You should NOT be keeping any animals other than rats in here. Shame on some of these negligent reviewers for keeping hamsters or other critters in here. Do your research, animals like guinea pigs or hamsters are not made to climb cages and need more horizontal space. Guinea pigs are the size of FOOTBALLS they need at LEAST 8 sq feet. Hamsters should be kept in at LEAST 600 sq inch enclosures. Ridiculous that people are still being horrible incompetent pet owners to this day.

This is a great cage for two small rats or for maybe a few baby rats as a starter cage. I always take out the levels in cages like these and fill it up with ledges, baskets, hammocks and branches to make its a more enriching and fun layout. I find people have really poor and boring layouts when they leave all the platforms in which may encourage bored chewing. This cage is NOT appropriate for hamsters or any other creatures.

Not safe for rats

Rats chewed through the plastic base ~ I returned this cage for credit. Luckily, Chewy stands behind their one year warranty.

My baby rats chewed a hole in the side of the plastic at the bottom of the pan. It lasted about 3 months before they did it, but I think that was only because I kept them entertained and engaged. I would not suggest this as a permanent enclosure, especially if your small animals love to chew.

I've had this cage for about a year for my 2 rats. In that time, probably about a third of the entire plastic bottom has been chewed away. I've had to resort to a cobbled together wire mesh around the bottom to patch the holes which is dangerous for the rats' feet, which is unfortunate. Other than this the cage has held up well; maybe my only other complaint would be that some of the cooks at the corners don't hold well. They really need to have a metal bottom for a cage if they're going to advertise it as being good for rats when it really is not.

waste of money

Rat is already chewing through cage, waiting on a response for a refund if possible. Do not buy, not worth it.

Perfect choice

My rats love this cage, they do laps up and down the sides and ramps. Tried a different cage and they were actually terrified of wire platforms and ramps

It’s huge!

Perfect for our teddy bear hamster. One of the ramps doesn’t stay on completely but it still works fine. Plenty of room to run around and play. Love it!

Rats Chewed Through

I received this cage with a tiny piece of plastic already missing from the base. Over time, my rats gnawed through it and I woke up to them loose in my house.
