I set it up with the recommended food. The finches were not interested in this feeder. But the squirrels were. They ripped a hole in the bottom of one of it and the seed spilled out all over the ground.
I love this feeder because it is easy to fill and the finches love it. I just wish I could find replacement socks.
My finches have not found the feeder yet but I hope they will soon . It looks great
We have at least a dozen finches at the feeder most of the day. They love it and we love it because it's so easy to use.
This is a wonderful product if you like to feed the finches, especially the American Goldfinches. We've used them for many years and finally ordered some new ones! The finches love them.
In order to enjoy feeding finches I started to feed the squirrels too—and it’s very expensive! Worse, it didn’t stop the squirrels from ripping holes in the finch socks. Another feeder tossed in the basement. Also, even though I went to great lengths to make sure the hopper was equally filled on both sides, the feeder always hung crooked.
This is the second finch feeder station that I've purchased and is an exact replacement of the original one I bought many years ago. This style feeder is no longer available at any of the stores in my area but oddly enough the replacement socks are carried at one store where I buy bird seed. I was beginning to think the feeder had been discontinued but was surprised that Chewy carries it. I thought they just carried dog and cat supplies.
