Routinely check under your Cool Bed III™ for moisture. Never use the Cool Bed III™ in direct sunlight. Always place in shade, as direct sun will warm the Cool Bed III™. Always place the Cool Bed III™ out of the way of foot traffic. Never allow the Cool Bed III™ to freeze. The Cool Bed III™ is not intended to be a life saving device. This product is to be used in temperatures under 95° F.
Cleaning or Storing:
The surface can be cleansed using a damp towel or sponge and mild dish washing detergent. DO NOT wash in a washing machine.
Grapefruit seed extract is an all natural, non-toxic antibacterial. Add it to the water when filling and place a few drops inside the bed before storing to help prevent bacterial growth.
How to Use the Cool Bed III:
The best results will be obtained when used in a shady area. When using outdoors, always place the Cool Bed III™ in a shady, cool spot, as this will maximize its heat wicking abilities. Be sure not to place the bed on sharp objects that could puncture the Cool Bed III™. Keeping the Cool Bed III™ indoors overnight near air conditioning will super cool the bed for outdoor use the next morning. When using indoors, be sure to place the Cool Bed III™ out of direct sunlight. The cooler the spot you place the Cool Bed III™, the better. An ideal place would be a cool tile, linoleum or concrete floor. An area with good air movement will also help keep the bed cooler. You will soon figure out the best location for your new Cool Bed III™, and your pet will love you for it!
Moving:
Do not lift or move the bed by its corners as this will cause the foam core interior to separate from the sides. Fold the bed and wrap each arm around either end of the bed to move.
Emptying:
Filling & Usage:
Remove the Cool Bed III™ from the box. Locate the filler cap on the bed and open it by grasping the base of the cap with one hand and the tab of the cap with the other. Pull the cap open. Flatten the Cool Bed III™ and let it sit for a few a minutes to allow the cool core interior to retain its shape as all air has been removed for shipping.
Place the Cool Bed III™ in the intended location with the cap side of the bed up for filling. Place a towel under the filler cap end of the bed to absorb any accidentally spilled water. Using a calibrated container with a pour spout, begin carefully filling the Cool Bed III™ with cool water. The bed will take the following water quantities: Small: 1 - 1 1/2 gallons, Medium: 2 - 3 gallons, Large: 4 - 6 gallons. Keep in mind, the more water used, the more cushioning and cooling capabilities the bed will have. You can experiment for the optimal feel of the Cool Bed III. Ultimately the recommended quantity of water for best cooling capabilities is as listed above.
Now that you have your Cool Bed III™ filled, close the filler cap and begin to knead the bed to help work the water into the Cool Core™. Now pull open the air adjustment valve and gently work as much air out as you can, using sweeping motions across the Cool Bed III™ with your hands. Sweep the air towards the valve allowing the air to expel from the bed. Seal the valve when most of the air has been removed. You will feel how comfortable the bed will be at this point. The bed should feel very soft and spongy and you should feel water squishing around inside the bed. Now decide if a little more water is desirable or if it's just right for your pet. Add water if necessary, repeating the air removal process. Note: A little air inside the bed will not affect the cooling capabilities of the Cool Bed III™. If you choose, you may expel air as needed, though it's not necessary.

No, there is not a weight limit for the Cool Bed III.
Our Cool Bed III™ has a heavy vinyl backing, is soft and pliable, and also has a nylon coating. Our competitors' vinyl is often very stiff.
There is a cap on the underside of the Cool Pad. Remove this cap and fill the bed with water.
You do not need to refill the Cool Bed.
While the Cool Bed III has heavy duty vinyl backing and most people use it without experiencing a puncture, it is not puncture-proof.It is possible than an animal's nails could puncture the bed. If this is a concern for you, the Coolin’ Gel Pad would be an excellent alternative.
Since dogs and cats have the same body temperature, any of our dog products will work for cats as well. Other customers have used it for that cats without any issues, but please be aware that a cat’s claws could possibly puncture the bed. If this is a concern for you, the Coolin’ Gel Pad would be an excellent alternative.
This item cannot be used with a heater. It is specifically engineered to be used as a cooling dog bed.
This product is made for pets and tested for pets, but has never been tested for use with humans. It is constructed of vinyl/nylon on the exterior surface, so if you have any allergies to these materials, we do not advise using it. The inside consists of foam and the water you provide and the product is non-toxic. The water inside will wick the heat from anything that is in contact with the product, whether it be human or animal.
You can use a homemade chew deterrent, or buy one and apply it to the cap.
To avoid this issue, please follow the Cool Bed III instructions carefully. The problem occurs when the Cool Bed III is picked up by the corner or edge. The weight of the water in the foam core will actually tear the foam core away from the side it has been secured to. This causes the foam to bunch up in the bottom and then it won’t lie flat again. That being said, there is a remedy that works most of the time. Overfill the Cool Bed with water–at least as deep as the foam bunch is tall. Then fill it with air to make it balloon up. Knead the bed until the foam works its way out flat. Drain the excess water and air and be extremely careful when moving it since the core has already been ripped.

I got this for feral cats during a heatwave. They will not go near it. Also, I touched it during several times of the day to see if it was cold and it didn't appear to be cold at all (it was not in the direct sun). Lastly, set up was horrible. I had to fill it with a hose rather the pitcher the instructions suggest. The hose worked fine but once full, it's so cumbersome to move even an inch. I suppose with practice I would get the hang of filling exactly where I intended to leave it, but since the cats won't go near it, it won't matter.
I'll be honest that I wasn't too sure about this when I purchased it. But my doggo would pace around the house for hours after a walk just panting, so I thought we'd try it. I have her lay on this mat now when she's panting like that and within minutes the panting stops. It seems to really work! I'm thinking about getting the cooling cot for afternoons in the yard too.
My 100 lb Wirehaired Pointing Griffon slept on one of these for years before it got a pin hole last Fall. He was moving all over the bedroom looking for a cool place to sleep. As soon as I put the new one down he was right back to his spot. He loves it and he doesn't wake us up in the middle of night 'cause he's too hot.
The size of the mat says it is 44L x 32w. It is not. The L is 42.5 and W is 31. I ordered mats from a different manufacturer and their measurements were wrong too. It must be industry standard to embellish the size of the product thinking no one is checking, oh well.
There are a lot if deep wrinkles down the middle that won’t smooth out even when filled with water. It looks nothing like the picture. My dog hasn’t shown any interest in laying on it as of yet.
She isn't reaally using it yet. I understand the concept of the body heat but think it needs to be colder.
Hard to review this product. My dog refuses to lie on it.
Too hard to get water out and it doesn’t get very cool
First one lasted 10 years so I bought another when that just wasn't doing it anymore Love this product
Awesome product and company
