How long is the power cord?

Answer by ChewyOct 29, 2019
This Deicer features an 18 inch cord.

What temperature will the water freeze in using this heater in my bird bath?

Answer by ChewyNov 04, 2019
This product is intended to prevent the water in your bird bath from turning into ice. Water turns into ice at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but this deicer uses just 80 watts to keep liquid water in the bird bath during even the coldest months of winter.

To what outdoor temperature will this still keep the water open? I live in Minnesota.

Answer by ChewySep 21, 2020
The Super Ice Eliminator has been tested in temperatures of -20°F, easily maintaining open water in the birdbath.

Does this have to be completely submerged in water?

Answer by ChewyDec 24, 2022
It is advised to place the Ice Eliminator in the center of your birdbath making sure that it is covered with water and plugged into a grounded extension cord.

Birdbath heater

Glad I found this on Chewy. Mine quit working and it’s 12 degrees tonight. Birds love getting drinks out of my birdbath and this keeps it from freezing.

Birdbath Deicer, 80 Watt

This deicer works great in my deeper birdbath. Plus, you can paint it to match the bath. This is the second one I've purchased. Great product!!

K&H makes this 80 watt unit and a 50 watt unit also. I chose this because i'm in the northeast and it gets pretty cold. I found out that the 80 watt unit is really designed for bird baths greater than a 10 gallon. My concrete bird bath is only 2.5 gallons so I should have bought the 50 watt unit. I wrote to the MFG and they said to just make sure it is always under water.
