K&H Pet Products Thermo-Pond

I have two small ponds in my garden and run aerators year-round. I have found that during the worst of our winter weather, aerators alone will not keep a hole open when the pond ices over. Since we often see heavy freezes here, I purchased these deicers for each pond, which proved prudent when I discovered some late season tadpoles had successfully over-wintered in one of the ponds (they were very large, but had slowed development of limbs). Unfortunately, this year during the winter I noticed bubbling (from the aerator) around the inner rim of the circular float; water was seeping through the seal and into the device. Both heaters have seal damage, and need to be replaced after only a few years use.

This product is junk. It started to leak and sunk in only 2 weeks of use.
