How much clearance is required between the top of the front tire and the handlebars?

You will need at least 10 inches between the tire and the top of the handlebars for the small size K&H Travel Dog Bike Basket, and at minimum 12 inches between the tire and the top of the handlebars for the large size K&H Travel Dog Bike Basket. These recommendations should give you about a 2 inch safety clearance from the bottom of the baskets to your tire.

For a very small dog

My dog is only about 12 pounds and it is very difficult to turn the wheel. I am not weak. I work out regularly. Jog I do push-ups, etc.. it is uncomfortable to put

Safe for my dog

Great little basket

Love the side pocket. Holds my iPhone 16 Great plus there’s extra room for a leash and poop bags. Very sturdy. Very easy to install. I would definitely buy this

Good design but not for my 14# dog

The large basket is approved for up to 20 pounds, but did not feel near sturdy or stable enough for my 14-pound malitpoo. Pros: Nice metal rack to attach to bike,

The large basket is approved for up to 20 pounds, but did not feel near sturdy or stable enough for my 14-pound malitpoo. Pros: Nice metal rack to attach to bike, easy to assemble, extra safety straps as back-up to hold the basket to the bike Cons: Inner structure is cardboard, and while it is supported underneath the center by the metal rack, and he likely can't really collapse the basket, it just didn't feel sturdy enough to safely hold him. I think for a very small dog, like maybe under 8-10 pounds, it would probably be fine.
