Loved by dogs, not by cats, takes time to hydrate
I opened the bag to this one a little surprised to see it looked like chewed up food. It didn’t smell bad though. We had the turkey recipe. My dog wouldn’t leave
I opened the bag to this one a little surprised to see it looked like chewed up food. It didn’t smell bad though. We had the turkey recipe. My dog wouldn’t leave me alone when I opened the bag and loved it as soon as I put it down. The directions say to mix 1:1 food and any liquid. I used warm water. It definitely left excess water around the food. But I’m not sure if it means you need to let it hydrate for a certain amount of time (not stated on the bag). Any time more than a few seconds, however, is too much for my animals to wait to eat their food. I then tried it with my cat who will eat anything. He sniffed it multiple times, but wouldn’t touch it. I like that the ingredients are simple and healthy. I like that it’s easy to portion sizes. I only gave it four stars because it seems to take long to hydrate fully and may not be loved by cats though it’s advertised for both cats and dogs.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this expensive bag of food. It is labeled for both cats and dogs, which is not unusual for a freeze dried raw food. The ingredients look good, but both cats reel backwards at the smell and won't go near it. Partly due to the consistency, which is like shredded pulp and sawdust, mostly the strong smell which is probably the flax. I received a refund and donated it to a wild life rehabilitator to see if the raccoons would try it.

The freeze-dried pieces rehydrate nicely and have a fresh, meaty smell that even my picky eater can’t resist. I like that it’s made with simple, wholesome ingredients and real turkey. It’s convenient to serve and easy to store, which makes feeding raw a lot simpler. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a high-quality raw option!

My Chiweenie did not enjoy this. I thought a raw food option would be good to supplement her diet. The freeze dried formula seemed like a convenient option. It has a “freeze-dried” odor which is a little different but not offensive. It is clumpy though and even after adding water, it can be difficult to break up, which I want to do bc my dog is small and some chunks are big and hard and don’t soften up. It wasn’t convenient to spend so much time breaking it up. I introduced slowly and she was eating it but didn’t seem too excited about it. After a few weeks, I increased the amount, and I noticed that she was picking out the larger pieces and placing them outside or a bowl. She would come back and eat them eventually. Today, however, I increased the amount some more and she did not eat it at all it seemed. Usually, she always cleans her plate, but not today. Later in the morning she puked which she never does. She is feeling otherwise and tonight she ate her regular dinner (without this) so I do think for whatever reason, she does not enjoy this and it didn’t agree with her stomach. I will not be purging this again. By the way, I also offered a small bit to my cat and she was not interested in eating it at all. My dog is not a picky eater, but this was not a good choice for her unfortunately.

Offered this raw dehydrated turkey food to my 18 month old Boston Terrier and she loved it. I find it hard to review food with my dog because she will literally eat anything. She was actually a bit skeptical at first but then devoured it with gusto! Rehydrating food is new to me but not at all difficult. The food has a bit of an odor but not a bad one. You can see the pieces of cranberries, kale and dried kelp listed in the ingredients.
Dogs definitely loved the taste!

They’d lick their bowls clean and look at me like, “Where’s the rest?” 😂 I honestly felt like I was giving them something really good for them, and the ingredients seem super high-quality. Now they’re not too happy going back to their regular food — I guess we’re sticking with King Lou!
