Will my kitten be able to grip and climb with the caps on? Or will he be able to play with a scratching post/board with the caps on?

Answer by ChewyFeb 28, 2019
Your cat can still climb and make scratching motions, however no damage will occur to your furniture or scratching posts because the claw is effectively covered and protected.

Are you supposed to do front and back paws?

Answer by ChewyJul 16, 2022
Kitty Caps can be used on a cat's rear claws. Because cats often keep their rear nails short on their own by biting them and they do most of the damage to furniture by actively scratching it with their front claws, you may not need to apply them to your cat's rear claws. However, the nail caps can be used on the back claws if desired, and there are a couple of situations when it might be a good idea. Applying Kitty Caps to the hind claws will help prevent damage from cats jumping on and off furniture. Also, many people have used Kitty Caps on the hind claws of cats that have skin problems and scratch themselves excessively. The nail caps help decrease or prevent self-inflicted damage in these instances.

Do you recommend clipping the nails before applying these on?

Answer by ChewyOct 30, 2018
At this time, it's recommended to trim your cats nails to ensure the caps will be able to cover them completely.

What is the likelyhood they can chew them off?

Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2020
These caps are applied using a strong, kitty-safe adhesive to keep them on. They will shed as your cat’s nails grow; generally in 4 - 8 weeks.

They don’t stay on

I’m not sure if my cat just has the extraordinary ability to get these off but she had them all off within 2 hours. I applied them the first time and she had all but 2 off within an hour. I thought I had just not put enough glue in them or something so I tried again 2 days later. I applied plenty of glue and distracted her for 20 mins while it dried. 2 hours later, they’re all removed, including the original 2 stragglers.

Adhesive has changed

I used these nail caps for several years. The adhesive and packaging changed in 2025. The glue is now mostly dried out and whatever glue is left is no longer strong

Great product because it saves your furniture from being scratched!

I purchased these nail tips for Violet. This way she can't damage any wood in our new house by scratching it. No complaints from Violet either! So happy.

Glue was dried and solid

Couldn’t even try them out because all three tubes of glue that came with this kit were hardened and dry. Save your money.

Sticks on okay

Fits well on my kitty's claws (5 months), had to buy 2 packs since he has a tendency to remove them.

No good

The glue was no good, very thick and not useable. I had a second set sent to me and the glue was the same in that set as well.

Xsmall suitable for kittens and really small cat nails

I bought these for a teenage cat and they were too small but still worked ok. Glue held up nicely, took them a long time to bite them off. Pleased with purchase

Save your skin!

I do not have to worry about sharp claws anymore! I has my vet put them on and they don’t seem to bother Remus at all.
