Will my kitten be able to grip and climb with the caps on? Or will he be able to play with a scratching post/board with the caps on?
Answer by • Feb 28, 2019
Your cat can still climb and make scratching motions, however no damage will occur to your furniture or scratching posts because the claw is effectively covered and protected.
Are you supposed to do front and back paws?
Answer by • Jul 16, 2022
Kitty Caps can be used on a cat's rear claws. Because cats often keep their rear nails short on their own by biting them and they do most of the damage to furniture by actively scratching it with their front claws, you may not need to apply them to your cat's rear claws. However, the nail caps can be used on the back claws if desired, and there are a couple of situations when it might be a good idea. Applying Kitty Caps to the hind claws will help prevent damage from cats jumping on and off furniture. Also, many people have used Kitty Caps on the hind claws of cats that have skin problems and scratch themselves excessively. The nail caps help decrease or prevent self-inflicted damage in these instances.
Do you recommend clipping the nails before applying these on?
Answer by • Oct 30, 2018
At this time, it's recommended to trim your cats nails to ensure the caps will be able to cover them completely.
What is the likelyhood they can chew them off?
Answer by • Mar 12, 2020
These caps are applied using a strong, kitty-safe adhesive to keep them on. They will shed as your cat’s nails grow; generally in 4 - 8 weeks.
