My older kitties like this more than my kitten does. But it keeps them from scratching my door frames and couches. The only issue I have with this item is the box that holds the scratcher...is a box. It falls apart. I am tempted to go buy the plastic brand holder so it doesn't fall apart as easy. The toy inside is worthless, my cats don't even bother to play with it. So I think the design can be better, but my older kitties love this. Another setback is the cardboard mess it leaves behind.

Unfortunately my cats have not touched this product, but to be fair, I also bought the "petfusion ultimate-cat-scratcher" at the same time, and they preferred the petfusion scratcher over the kong scratcher....I ended up buying another one of the petfusion scratchers after they showed preference for it.
They seem to enjoy lying on them, vs scratching, although they scratch every once in a while on the petfusion, but it seems to be more of a comfort thing.

I have seven cats ranging in age from 5 to 1 the oldest weighs about 30 pounds and loves to scratch this pad because of the angle incline. All my cats use it constantly. The only bad thing is I have to put in replacement pads frequently it gets a little messy but nothing a vacuum can't handle. I hear the cats on it all night long which makes me very happy that they're on that instead of my furniture. I have to say this has saved my furniture!
First one, great. Second one, broken in two after one hour.

The first one I bought worked well and stood up to my cat's scratching. When I got the second one, I noticed the cardboard frame seemed less durable. Within an hour, the insert was split down the middle after my cat had tried to scratch it. He's 12 lbs and athletic so it wasn't a question of a plump cat squishing the insert. Even after I duct taped the insert on both sides, the same thing happened.

I bough this for a feral kitten I was trying to socialize, but he didn't use it. (Probably because he was to scared to) I also have two outdoor cats that are semi-feral. Since the kitten wasn't using the scratcher, I put it outside for my two outdoor cats and they used it right away. I loved how they used it even though they have all the trees and whatever else outside to scratch on as well but they chose this!
Great concept with even bigger FAIL!

I needed something for my cats because they like to claw at the furniture. I bought this, as well as the flat KONG cardboard scratcher. Well, my cat loved this because the box has a plastic crinkly toy hanging inside the hole. However, it took about 30 seconds for my cat to get the "toy" and rip it off of the box. Then he wanted to eat it. Big fail. The whole toy hanging in the box was completely destroyed.
He has enjoyed the box, however. I put a weeblewobble in the hole and he went crazy trying to get it. A few hours of fun for him. But, I could have made my own box for that. Eventually I took off the scratcher cardboard and he had fun hopping in and out of the box (again, couldI needed something for my cats because they like to claw at the furniture. Between this one and the flat KONG scratcher, the flat one is a much better fit for my cats. Both of my cats LOVE the flat one. After I removed the cardboard from this box, I put it on the floor (to make it just like the flat one) and they like to sleep on it. Uhm, my furniture?? *sigh*… more
Baby cats absolutely love it!

We just got this today and my two 3-month old kittens love it!! They have been playing on it for over an hour now. They both ran right up to it and started scratching and I didn’t even put the catnip on it (since I read that cats can’t really smell it until they are 6 months old or so). They love the little ball dangling inside of it too. Since they are still small they keep climbing in the box to play with the ball. This scratcher has been a huge hit and money well spent!!
This one hasn't collapsed...yet!

Had this for four months and my Joy has enthusiastically used it. We've gone through many models whereby she's run through the room and did the flying leap onto one and boom! The model collapses. So far, this one has survived. I will be ordering another one as I am tired of putting another model back into its torn slots time after time. If you have a larger wild child, this is the one to get.
My 8 week old kitten destroyed it...

So, overall this is a great concept - the angled scratch pad with the toy underneath that can be accessed through holes on the side. The issue? The hanging toy lasted less than 10 days. I have an 8 week old kitten, so the fact that her 2.2 pound self could pull the toy out so easily makes me question the quality of assembly with that toy piece. She still loves the scratch pad, but her favorite part isn’t functional anymore.
A good workout

From what I've seen with cat toys and scratchers, some cats like certain things, but other cats don't. Same with the Kong Naturals Cat Scratcher. Two of our cats really, really use it; the other two cats don't seem to get it. However, they all love the toy inside. The scratching surface holds up pretty well. Once one side of the corrugated part is worn out, it's really nice to be able to flip it over for a fresh surface.
