Where are these made?

Answer by ChewyDec 31, 2023
This chew is made in the USA.

Are these heat-treated? How are they cleaned for safe consumption.

Answer by ChewyMar 05, 2021
The Antlers are not heat-treated. In the nine years that KONG has been selling antler chews, there has never been an issue related to parasites or bacteria. An Antler is basically a bone that grows rapidly and then sheds. Shed antlers do not decompose - the inner marrow simply dries out and the outer bone protects it against moisture absorption. The longer it stays exposed to the elements the drier it gets and parasites and bacteria do not thrive in dry conditions. For this reason, we only process whole antlers that are completely encapsulated and protected.

Are these edible?

Are these Raw hide?

Answer by ChewyNov 09, 2017
Antlers are not a rawhide product.

This is a terrible product. DON’T BUY THEM. I buy antlers all the time. For some reason I bought Kong antlers this time, probably because I have bought their other products and liked them. These antlers are as dangerous as chicken bones. I don’t know if they cook them, or what, but I gave them to my 2 Labradors and when I checked on them later they were 1/2 “eaten”/missing, ragged and splintered, and the marrow was mush.

Small for a XL size

Thought all XL antlers would be the same size, but the Kong are at least 2-3 inches shorter and not as big as a whole. Will be sure to buy the Bones and Chews that

NOT FOR Great Danes

I understand all dogs are different. However my two Great Danes bit through theirs within 5 minutes of chewing. Creating very sharp potential choke hazards. At $40

Love it, but didn't last

Reasonable chewers (Goldens) but the split style go quickly. Have to keep an eye on them because they can chew it down in a few hours, making it thin enough to swallow

Total Disappointment Plus Chocking Hazard

Kong usually provides a great product but not this one! I noticed right out of the package that this chew was smaller than the previous one we had purchased. But more disturbing was how the chew splintered into shards. After hearing my German Shepherd Dog gagging I went to investigate. I discovered that within an hour of giving my dog the antler she had chewed it down a quarter of its length plus there were two shards next to her. To say the least, I was extremely disappointed with this antler but not as much as my dog when I took away from her.

Lasts a long time

We have a 140 pound Dogue de Bordeaux and he loves bones. These are great because they last a long time and they're good for him.

Kong elk antler dog chew

Much softer than anticipated. Perhaps my fault in that I ordered split chew.
