Breaks EXTREMELY easily

Although this a fairly inexpensive leash, I expected better. The concept is what sold it for me. Love the design of the removable doggy bag holder. The complaint is in the fact the leash itself is not durable by any means. The 1st one broke on its maiden trip. While my dog was standing still, he turned his head and the hook that attaches from the retractable leash to the collar detached from the leash itself remaining on the collar. Tying the leash temporarily to the collar to get the dog home wasn't an option. The hook that detached would normally prevent the leash from retracting entirely into its handle. Because the hook was still attached to the collar, the leash retracted completely with no hope of ever seeing it again. Chewy was great and replaced it immediately. It hasn't been used since we received until yesterday. Unfortunately, the scenario was repeated but this time, much further away from the house. We had to call for a ride home. The design concept is great but unless quality of any kind is introduced, I would NOT purchase this leash at any price.

The retracting mechanism is not smooth, the lease twists and gets tangled when retracting, and the reason the first one broke was that there is a single stitch run securing the leash to the hasp. It is insufficient to secure the leash from a dog pull of strength. I have no confidence that this leash will hold up. Very poor quality.

This leash is incredibly cheaply made! We bought it, and by the second walk, the plastic holding the metal clip to the leash snapped and our dog was almost run over. He is only 14 pounds and not very strong. The leash itself is made of cheap plastic, and the threading was already pulling apart when we opened the box. Chewy was very generous to offer us a refund for this poorly made product. Please save yourself. Don’t worry and DO NOT BUY this leash!

The first time I used this line It Snapped; My puppy Buddy kept on running, right out into traffic and all most got hit. several people got out of their car's to help me, when they saw I walk with a cane. One man got him, and carried him back to my car and put Buddy back in his Puppy cage. I was just trying to socialize him to people and cars, so that he would not bark at car's and people any more.

Called Chewy, they got a replacement out couple days later...I checked it this time before using....got it out of the box the sewing didn't look that good so I tried to rip it by pulling at one of the loose threads...that didn't do it so I gave it 3 good tugs and it ripped right away. I went with something totally different...Chewy very understanding when I called and suggested they take all of this leash out of their stock. I have a 15 pound miniature schnauzer he's 9 months so he does tug on the leash....I don't let it out the full length I keep him close....but my old leash that I had with my other dog approximately same size, same walking styles but have had for over 16 years never had any problems with. I'm fortunate there weren't any squirrels, birds or other dogs at the time of the breakage or it may have been tragic.
Broke in under 15 minutes
First walk on this leash with a 15 week old puppy and the leash broke at the base after only 15 minutes. This could have been a disaster but luckily I saw it as

Broke after a week
Loved the leash but after using it for a week (on a 12 lb puppy in a harness) the clip broke and the leash went into the handle and we couldn’t use it anymore.

BROKEN / poor quality
This leash broke within weeks of purchase. The leash came off the spool. Ozzy is an 18lb yorkie terrier and this leash should be strong enough for a small.dog!
