how is this powered?

In addition to the Lee’s Undergravel bowl filter an air pump would need to be purchased separately to send power to the filter.

Can you use this filter with sand?

This was designed to be used with gravel no smaller than 1/8 inch. It's not meant to be used with sand.

Is carbon filter refillable or do you replace it? If so where do I get it?

The carbon cartridges are replaceable and can be purchased separately through Chewy by clicking Lee's Aquarium & Pets below the product title and finding the carbon cartridges (CAT. NO. 13023 and 13025 on the product label).

Hard to keep in place

I wanted to love this filter as it’s small and I love Lee’s UGF but they don’t go under 10G, except this one. But either I wasn’t using enough gravel (possible),

I wanted to love this filter as it’s small and I love Lee’s UGF but they don’t go under 10G, except this one. But either I wasn’t using enough gravel (possible), or it was just too bouyant given the size of the plate. I probably should’ve tried it without the charcoal filters because they’re useless, but I felt like I needed something at the top like the rest of Lee’s UGF. I liked the idea of the plant hiding the tube, but again, too buoyant.

Flimsy

Very cheap. Not even worth putting in the tank and you need a bunch of other stuff to set it up. Just kinda lame.

AWESOME Gravel Filter

LOVE these filters. They are perfect for smaller fishbowl tanks. I also have one for an octagon tank I own. These keep your tank and water cleaner for a longer period

LOVE these filters. They are perfect for smaller fishbowl tanks. I also have one for an octagon tank I own. These keep your tank and water cleaner for a longer period of time. So easy to take out and clean and then replace your deco. So happy I found these. They come in 2 sizes so you can choose which size will work best for your tank. Don't miss out on these. Would definately purchase again.

worked great

i called and spoke to a really sweat lady who helped me with this, I did have to cut some of it down as it was to tall for my fish bowl but it works great. though
