Too large
Even though this item is described as small, it is definitely for bigger for large dogs. my small dogs couldn’t even get their mouths around it.

Everything about this product was misleading. I ordered a small, and the tag attached does say small. But based on their own listed weight ranges it is firmly a medium. It's also a solid brick - aside from the shape being totally different from the small depicted, it doesn't have the porous-looking texture and natural curves and indents depicted for all of the sizes. There's nothing for a dog's teeth to grip. Even the color looks different - it's hard to believe this is the same type of wood in the pictures at all. Chewy's description says safe for dogs four months and up, and categorizes it as "all life stages." The actual item tag says "not suitable for puppies or senior dogs." Adulthood obviously begins many months after four, and if it's also not for seniors, "four months and up" and "all lifestages" are both misleading / inaccurate at both ends.
Size down
I got the small size based on weight and I think both of them are too heavy and bulky for my 13# and 19# pups. Wished I would have gotten extra smalls.

Puppy loved it right away. He loves gnawing on things and I love that this isn't a plastic or soft toy he's shredding and eating. We were a little worried at first with how heavy, dense, and hard it seemed. It does appear to soften slightly as it gets wetter. But I wouldn't describe it as a paste. It actually seems to crumble. Puppy seems to love nibbling the corners or scraping his teeth along the sides. The one we got was bigger and blockier than I was hoping for, but I did read that the size and shape varies since it's natural.. it does seem to but cut down to size though, rather than the single, free-form clumpy shape in the picture.
The Dogs Love It
My two new pups were chewing every thing in sight. This is a great distraction and they are enjoying them.

Good for gnawers.

I've got two dogs. One doesn't care much for chews he can't eat in 30 seconds or less. The other smaller one isn't a chewer so much as a gnawer. She loves sitting with this thing and just shaving her teeth along the edge. It lasts her forever and it doesn't splinter with her chewing style. I think this is a great product for dogs who gnaw. For dogs who clamp down hard, or strong-jawed breeds, or even dogs who enjoy crunching their chews, it's not your best choice. That said, given that different dogs have very different chewing styles and preferences, I wish products like this had more detailed information beyond terms like "power" or "moderate chewer." Dogs chewing styles matter when choosing toys/chews.
Not as described.
This chew was much larger than described and depicted. Additionally, my dog had no interest in chewing it whatsoever.

Too big for the weight classifications

First let me say that I have ordered a different shape (dowel, traditional dog bone shape) from the same company and my dog loves it. Actually both dogs are fighting over the one dowel shaped chew. However, the Heather root chew advertised as 22-44 pounds WAY too big for my 30# beagles’ mouths. Additionally Little Loyals doesn’t offer any dimensions of any of their root chews that I’ve been able to find. I sent the medium back. Actually I will donate it to a local rescue. I ordered a second small and it came in in the same block formation as the medium. My dogs aren’t excited by this shape. At all. The first small I had gotten has a nice contour to it and is very similar to the image on chewy.com website. The second, as I just mentioned, is a wedge shape and even the small as pretty hard for my dogs to grab. I would love to see little loyals give more accurate descriptions and dimensions

This Root looked nothing like the picture. It also sounded like a piece of wood when it hit the floor. Our baby loves to eat roots from outside so I thought it would be a good alternative but I'm not sure if I want splinters all over the floor. After a week or so he did chew on the "root" at least.
