Does the device make any sounds while it is in use?

Answer by ChewyDec 11, 2025
LumaSoothe 2 does not make any audible sounds during treatment.

Does the device make any sounds, particularly beeping noises, while it is in use?

Answer by pippyDec 10, 2025
No beeping! The buttons click a little like a tv remote when you press them.

What is the wattage and wavelength of this laser?

Answer by ChewyAug 22, 2023
LumaSoothe 2 uses the following LED wavelengths in two selectable treatment modes, as follows: the Deep Treatment Mode 940nm, 650nm, 525nm (nm = nanometer) and 96.3 J/cm2 (Joules per centimeter squared). The Surface Treatment Mode 650nm, 525nm, 465nm, 590nm (nm = nanometer) and 118.8 J/cm2 (Joules per centimeter squared).

Is it necessary or recommended that the user or the dog use protective eyewear? Do you supply protective eyewear for use with this device?

Answer by ChewyOct 12, 2023
LumaSoothe 2 uses LED diodes to deliver low-level light therapy, since LED lights are safe alternative to Laser light, there is no need to wear eye protection. That said, we do not recommend staring directly into the light (head of the unit) while it is in operation, as with any bright source of light. Please make sure you are placing the head of the unit directly on the coat/skin of your pet. If you are treating near or around the eyes of your pet, please cover their eyes with a towel and check with your veterinarian prior to doing treatments near the eyes.

All is well

I don't know whether this actually helps, but it can't hurt. We adopted our pup when he was a year old and he already showed signs of having arthritic joints. Here it is eleven years later and, while he still has arthritis, the light therapy, at least anecdotally, seems to provide short term relief.

Our 4yo beagle was suddenly diagnosed with IVDD and in a matter of days went from normal to unable to stand/go to the bathroom. We were seriously considering putting him down but gave this light therapy device a try and within a few sessions he was showing so much improvement! Within a couple of weeks he was pretty much back to normal and we now only use it once a week. Really glad we took a chance on this and would recommend for anyone looking for IVDD relief!

Worked intermittently for about 6 months, then broke

I bought this in July 2024, forgot about it for a while, and then started using it more frequently in the past 6 months (maybe 2-3x month?) for my little Chihuahua mix, who has numerous health issues. I felt like it was really starting to help with the inflammation in her back/knees. However, the USB-C connection point on the device is BROKEN. It feels dislodged inside the LumaSoothe, making it impossible to recharge via its own charging base or any USB-C charging cable. Really disappointing that it ended up being so cheaply made, especially considering how helpful it was initially.

I am quite disappointed in this item for two reasons. One is it is difficult to keep on one place for treatment, and the biggest reason is my dog is totally freaked out by the continuous flashing of the unit when in use. I don't blame him, the flashing is pretty annoying for us both. For me, this was a waste of money.

My dog has had a severe limp from front shoulder pain for some months. I have upped her joint supplement and have added this into her treatment. I’d like to think it helps as I have lessened her dose of metacam. I can’t be 100% sure as this isn’t the only thing I’m doing to treat her. I also used the surface option on a leg growth she has. I’d also like to think it’s helped some.

Our Frenchie was diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury and unable to walk without assistance. He had no use of his right paw. We were told to wait 4 to 6 weeks and follow up with a neurologist if no improvement. Surgery, possibly amputation could have been the final outcome. So I noticed quite a few good reviews for the Lumasoothe and decided to give it a try. I'm not a vet and make no claim that Lumasoothe was the cure. But our Frenchie is walking on his own and continues to show improvement with 2, 15 minute treatments daily primarily on his spine, shoulder and paw. No other treatment aside from gabapentin for pain. He's not knuckling and can almost tolerate full weight. Medication has been discontinued and he's once again happy and playful. Was well worth the investment.

Our dog Charlie is 13 with IVDD and weakness in his hind legs. We give him supplements for his back and arthritis in his joints and use a PEMF mat as well. I decided to add this LED treatment as well. I think all together it's been helpful as he's scampering around a bit more during breakfast and dinner. I'll continue to use it to see if it helps make him more comfortable.

My dog has severe elbow dysplasia. He's had laser therapy in the past, and unfortunately the only local vet here, we didnt have a good experience with. I got this thing, and I started with 5 minute treatments on each eblow, twice a day about 5 hours apart. After the 2 treatments, he went from a hard time walking to running and hopping. Of course this doesn't replace the vet, but it was such a good investment to help keep him comfortable. I plan on using at least twice a week as needed for him. To see him running and playing within 12 hours had me in tears because you could tell he was feeling so much better. I recommend keeping in contact with your veterinarian, but I feel this is a great purchase. I was very skeptical, but it's amazing! I wish I could attach a photo of me using it on him, while hes relaxing but it wont allow me to upload. Im so greatful for this thing!
