Instructions
To clean your LupinePet gear, machine or hand wash with warm (not hot) water and mild soap. No bleach, brighteners or whiteners. Air dry only – do not put them in the dryer. For extreme situations, pre-soaking in an enzymatic cleaner may be helpful. When machine washing, put items in a mesh bag or include items in with jeans or other sturdy clothes. Shampoos and other topical treatments that contain bleaching agents, clarifiers, medicines or other chemicals can cause colors to transfer to your pet’s fur. When washing your pets gear, bathing your pet or applying any of the above, we recommend that their gear be removed until the items and/or your pet’s fur are completely dry.

FAQ
LupinePet products are proudly built in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, using high-quality materials sourced both domestically and internationally.
No, we do not recommend leaving the harness on an unattended or unleashed pet. It should be removed when the leash comes off to prevent potential snagging, discomfort, or chewing. This harness is also not designed for tie-out use.
The most accurate way to select the correct size and ensure a proper fit is to measure your dog. Use a fabric dressmaker’s tape for the best accuracy—or a piece of string and a ruler or measuring tape. Measure your dog’s girth (around the ribcage at the widest point) snugly against the fur while your dog is standing. Take the actual measurement and add 5% to determine the appropriate size range. This harness is 1” wide and available in two adjustable sizes: 19–28” and 24–38”. More sizes are offered in ½” & ¾” widths. Please note that all items are handmade. Since each item is cut and sewn by hand at our New Hampshire workshop, slight variances in size are possible. Refer to our measuring and sizing charts. When in doubt, we recommend choosing the smallest size that will fit comfortably.
When unbuckled, two openings are created—one for each front paw. The adjustable sternum strap will fall between them. Guide your dog’s front legs into the openings, then bring the ends of the harness up and around the dog’s back and fasten the buckle between the shoulders. Adjust the front and back straps for a secure fit, then fine-tune the sternum strap so it sits comfortably snug.

Step-in harnesses can easily become twisted during adjustment. Follow this simple guide to straighten things out:https://www.lupinepet.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Fix-a-Step-In.pdf
Yes! The harness features welded, nickel-plated steel D-rings, allowing you to securely attach a leash.👉 Please note: The leash should be clipped to both D-rings to ensure even pressure.
Absolutely. The D-rings are also great for attaching an ID tag. You can also explore our embroiderable version for built-in identification, or try slide-on tags for a lightweight option.
Use the non-slip tri-glide adjusters to tighten or loosen the straps. Push the webbing through the slider to create slack, then pull it through the other side to adjust. Molded teeth inside the adjusters hold everything securely in place for a snug, comfortable fit.
Spot clean, hand wash, or machine wash using warm (not hot) water and mild soap. Avoid bleach, brighteners, or whiteners. Air dry only—do not use a dryer. For heavy soiling or odors, pre-soak in an enzymatic cleaner like Nature’s Miracle or Simple Solution. If using a washing machine, we recommend placing the harness in a laundry bag. Shampoos and other topical treatments that contain bleaching agents, clarifiers, medicines, or other chemicals can cause colors to transfer to your pet’s fur. We recommend removing the harness while bathing your pet or applying any treatments until both your pet and the gear are completely dry. My dog is excitable, skittish, or an escape artist.
If your dog tends to pull, get overly excited, or is known to slip out of harnesses, we recommend our adjustable-style harness for maximum security. While step-in harnesses are popular for ease of use, they may not be escape-proof for every dog.
Yes! Pair your harness with a matching padded-handle leash or collar (sold separately) for a coordinated look.
No, our harnesses are not crash-tested and are not intended for tie-out or vehicle restraint use.

The plastic band is too wide and too thick
It fits my little Norfolk Terrier but she’s only 10 lbs and the band/strap is too wide and thick for her. I wish there was a thinner band available in size small
It fits my little Norfolk Terrier but she’s only 10 lbs and the band/strap is too wide and thick for her. I wish there was a thinner band available in size small. I needed a plastic halter as she’s allergic to nylon. This was all that was available.
