What is BioThane®?
BioThane® is a coated webbing made by BioThane Coated Webbing Corp. It consists of a polyester core coated with PVC, making it highly durable, waterproof, and easy to clean.
Why is BioThane® better than leather?
BioThane® is more durable, waterproof, and easier to clean and maintain than leather. It doesn’t absorb moisture, odors, or bacteria and remains flexible in all weather conditions.
Is BioThane® made in the USA?
Yes! BioThane® webbing is manufactured in North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA.
Is BioThane® durable?
Yes! Under normal use, BioThane® outlasts both leather and nylon leashes, with a break strength of 600 lbs. per inch of width and being fray resistant.
Will this leash stay flexible in cold weather?
Yes! BioThane® remains soft and flexible in all weather conditions, including freezing temperatures.
Does BioThane® get sticky or tacky?
No, it does not get sticky or tacky under normal use. However, exposure to chemicals like DEET may affect the material.
What sizes are available for the training lead?
This lead is ¾” wide and available in two lengths: 15 feet and 30 feet. Measured end-to-end, including the handle and snap. Please note that all items are handmade. Because every item is cut and sewn by hand, here at our workshop in New Hampshire, it is possible that there will be some variance in our size measurements.

Can this leash be used for tie-out?
No. LupinePet products, including training leads, are not designed or recommended for tie-out use.
What types of training is this lead suitable for?
Perfect for recall training, “off-leash” practice, hunting/sport dog work, and managing reactive dogs in controlled environments.
Will this lead develop an odor if it gets wet?
No, BioThane® is stink-proof and does not absorb moisture or bacteria.
How do I clean the leash?
Simply wipe with a damp cloth for quick cleaning. For tougher messes, hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap using a brush or cloth, then wipe or air dry. Shampoos and other topical treatments that contain bleaching agents, clarifiers, medicines or other chemicals can cause colors to transfer to your pet’s fur. When washing your pets gear, bathing your pet or applying any of the above, we recommend that their gear be removed until the items and/or your pet’s fur are completely dry.
How do I disinfect the leash?
Use a 10% bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water), or disinfecting wipes like Clorox® wipes. You can also use Envirocide® or Cavicide® (following label directions).

Is this training lead chew-proof?
While made from strong and durable materials, this lead is not chew-proof. If your dog is prone to chewing, we recommend storing it out of reach when not in use. However, we know accidents happen, which is why we offer our famous GUARANTEED (Even if Chewed)® warranty.
