Mad Barn Chasteberry Hormone Health & Mood Balance Horse Powder Supplement, 2.2-lb bag

My Welsh mare was constantly showing signs of heat, peeing, squealing, just generally annoying. She also drinks a lot of water despite being a young horse (not overweight and normal blood tests, vet thinks nervous habit). I went to the manufacturer's site to read about Chasteberry supplement and there was an indication that not only would it help with mood and heat behavior, but it would help with horses that drink excessively and have metabolic issues (tendency for all ponies). It has definitely reduced any signs of heat, it's been several months, and I can't recall her acting like she was in heat. I will say it is a struggle to get her to eat it because the smell is very strong, but she's starting to eat it more now that she is used to the smell and taste. You may need to add oil or some other topper to encourage them to eat it. If it didn't work so well, I would have tried something else, but I will continue with this product because it simply makes a world of difference with my mare. She is also down from drinking 12-15 gallons/day to about half that. Finally, her stall isn't soaked every morning (she's a small pony and was drinking way more than normal). I may start giving this to my round Shetland gelding. He looks metabolic, but every blood test shows he is not even though he is almost 20 years old.
