Low calories for equines standing low to the ground!

This treat has been so helpful with training without the big worry of them adding too many calories to my mini horse’s diet. Hatchet is under 34” standing around

This treat has been so helpful with training without the big worry of them adding too many calories to my mini horse’s diet. Hatchet is under 34” standing around 32” tall. Depending on the day and what we’re working on, I may give him anywhere from 10 to 3. I also mix them with alfalfa-banana treats, just to make sure he gets some good stuff to keep his tummy safe. But these little wafer treats have been perfect for positive reinforcement and liberty work without having to overthink over feeding. And, to note, he works hard! So he earns these treats. Now, Hatchet is not a picky eater. He’ll eat strawberries, plantains, bananas, peppermints, orange slices, watermelon, just about anything you offer. But his son and his mare like these treats all the same and they are quite picky. And our herd of big horses do too, who are even more picky. All in all, these are a wonderful edition to my treat stash for Hatchet and are one of the primary ones I reach for due to their low calorie count and their convenience. I don’t have pictures of them but they’re about the size of a quarter. We call them wafers lol I included a picture of Hatchet so ya’ll can get a good idea of how big he is next to the fence. He has one eye so don’t be alarmed by it missing. He’s the One-Eyed Wonder! Now, I work Hatchet like I would any horse (work relative to his size). I pack his saddle to pick up rocks in the pasture, he carries a bag of weeds when we clear areas, I forage flowers and such with him, do obstacles in hand, and, more recently, he now pulls a cart. He gets quite a lot of exercise! So if you have stout little pasture ornament, be mindful of that! 10 treats might not be appropriate for every mini.
