what is the ash for
Answer by ChewyMay 17, 2023
Ash is what is left of a feed after it has been heated to a very high temperature and all the organic matter has been burned off, leaving the mineral content. The higher the percentage of ash, the more mineral content there is in the feed.

The babies love this!

I have two very picky ferrets and they love this. I tried to transition from Marshall’s to this but they would only eat the Mazuri and leave the Marshall scraps in their bowl! Their poops are small and well formed. The bag I received was ripped during shipping and Chewy replaced it for me immediately. As always, their customer service is incredible. But this food, I cannot recommend enough. If you have picky babies like my Olive and Otto, give this a try!

Doing great on this food

Finally, a food all three of my rescue ferrets agree on. All three started their lives on a bad diet. one had even gone her first few years on nothing but bad quality cat food. After several brands of ferret food we finally found one she was willing to eat. The other two rescues came to us with horrible fecal matter that cleared up with this food.

Ferrets won’t eat it

My ferrets won’t eat it. I have 3. One is very picky, one who will try things occasionally, and one who eats everything and anything. Not ONE of them will eat it. I tried mixing it with other things and they still won’t eat it. I even put salmon oil on it and they still wouldn’t touch it.

excellent food!

I have 8 rescued ferrets who all came with different foods. Some were on the pretty thin side and I switched everyone to this bag and they’re poop isn’t as rank and they’ve picked up weight and are doing wonderful on it! I found it’s cheaper to buy the big bag, so we have it autoshipped! Thank you chewy for being so amazing!

Ferret approved!

I recently adopted two bb ferrets and they love this stuff. The rescue said this was the best for them and I’ve only read good things vs other brands of food. If they eat it and it’s healthy for them then I approve.

gave my ferrets diarrhea

I offered this food gradually, and I mean over a month’s time, to make sure the switch didn’t upset their stomachs. No matter how slow the switch they still ended up with diarrhea and weight loss. I had read many reviews about this happening, especially the weight loss, but I thought maybe they just were transitioned too quickly. I guess that wasn’t the case after all. Some have great success with this food, but that wasn’t the case here, and both of my ferrets lost a good deal of weight. I can’t say this food is bad quality, but I do recommend caution when transitioning from something else to this.

I'm happy with this product. Poops seem small, little smell, well-formed. Diet requirements are met. Ferrets eat it without a problem. Great bulk price. Safe - no pea products.
